Cross-disciplinary collaboration among faculty and research experts from Stevens’ Schaefer School of Engineering and Science, School of Computing, School of Business and School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences gives the Stevens Institute for Artificial Intelligence a forward-thinking, holistic approach to exploring complex problems and creative new solutions that impact society while advancing the engineering and science of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Gabriela Ciolcarlie, Interim SIAI Director
Gabriela F. Ciocarlie, Ph.D., is the Stephen Bloom Chair Associate Professor in the School of Computing at Stevens Institute of Technology and Chief Technology Officer for CyManII, where she leads a research and development team spanning academia, national labs and industry. Her expertise includes anomaly detection, network and application security, cyber-physical systems security and trustworthy AI.
Previously, she was an associate professor at UT San Antonio and Trustworthy AI Thrust Lead for its MATRIX AI Consortium, Chief Product Officer at Elpha Secure, and senior technical manager at SRI, where she established the New York City research hub focused on cyberanalytics. She has served as a principal investigator for DARPA’s Transparent Computing program and ARL’s Internet of Battlefield Things program, as well as for commercial and Department of Homeland Security projects. She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in computer science from Columbia University and a B.Eng. in computer engineering from Polytechnic University of Bucharest.
