Five New Jersey colleges make Princeton Review's Best Value Colleges 2024
The Princeton Review, an educational services company known for its yearly school rankings, released its 20th annual list of the Best Value Colleges for 2024. Out 209 schools that made the Best Value list five of them are from New Jersey, including Stevens.
Word of advice from techies, this International Women in Engineering Day
For the 11th International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) in 2024, Spiceworks News & Insights reached out to nine techies to understand their perspectives and the difficulties they faced while going through the funnel of participation. Naomi Buckwalter, sr. director of product security at Contrast Security, offered advice. She received a BS in computer engineering from Stevens.
Why are sinkholes happening? A brief Hoboken history
On Friday, June 14th, a sinkhole opened up in Hoboken on Sinatra Drive along the waterfront. When an underground pipe springs a leak, or bursts, SES Professor George Korfiatis explains the water pressure, “erodes the surrounding soil and carries it away, leaving behind a void in the subsurface.” That void can grow to a size that the surface, or “roof of the void,” cannot support, and it collapses, thus creating a sinkhole.
