Ocean engineering

Department of Civil, Environmental and Ocean Engineering

The Department of Civil, Environmental and Ocean Engineering at Stevens was founded on the core principles of engineering that underpin the infrastructure which supports our economy and our society.

Our community of expert faculty and researchers train our students to address the complex cross-disciplinary challenges faced in the design, construction and monitoring of urban/interconnected infrastructure systems, sustainable environmental systems, resilient coastal communities, and oceanic systems.

Our Areas of Study

At Stevens, civil engineering has been an important discipline since the founding of the university, and the department has expanded to include offerings in environmental and ocean engineering as a response to ongoing developments in the field.

Located on the Hudson

Our location on the Hudson River and near New York Harbor provides a living laboratory for our coastal resilience research.
