Goldwater Scholarship Awarded for Second Straight Year

Naval engineering student Emily Lossman ’28 has been named a 2026 Goldwater Scholar, one of the nation’s top honors for undergraduate STEM researchers. In addition to her work in marine energy, Lossman has distinguished herself through leadership on research teams and in national competitions, demonstrating a strong commitment to advancing sustainable ocean systems.

Angel Burgos ’23 set out to create a more sustainable future. From researching next-generation battery materials to completing co-ops at Con Edison and BP and serving as a design facilitator, he explored how engineering can address climate challenges before continuing his work as a Stanford Ph.D. student.

The AI Research in Summer (AIRS) Fellowship Program through the Stevens Institute for Artificial Intelligence enables students looking to advance AI research to study with artificial intelligence experts.
