From Academics to Extracurriculars, Mollie Good ’26 Finds Her Success in Flexibility

The HASS senior looks back on her Stevens journey — from an unexpected first glimpse of campus to the plans shaping her future

When Mollie Good ’26 arrived at Stevens Institute of Technology, she wasted no time getting involved. Since then, she’s become a fixture on campus, serving as a peer leader, campus tour guide and student ambassador, all while navigating classes and designing an academic experience that led her to explore her professional interests.

Here’s just some of her Stevens story, in her own words:

On how and why she decided to attend Stevens:

When I was starting to research colleges, one of my family friends mentioned Stevens, which ultimately motivated me to visit campus. Our first attempt to visit the campus was on the one day a year it is closed to the public, but even from a distance I was intrigued and loved the proximity of the campus to New York City and the gorgeous backdrop of the skyline. When I returned for a “real visit” and drove up through the narrow 9th Street Gate entrance, I was really impressed with the campus — it was an oasis in the middle of Hoboken.

The more I learned about Stevens, the more I fell in love with the opportunities and strong STEM academics. I loved the idea that I would be a person, not just another number in the lecture hall. The more I weighed my other options, the more I gravitated back towards Stevens. It really is a hidden gem!

On choosing science, technology and society as her major and her School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences experience:

I chose science, technology and society because of the flexibility that the degree offers. The faculty allowed me to work closely with them and explore all of my interests in patient-centered healthcare.

I am very grateful to have academic and faculty advisors who know me and are there to support me. Shout out to Dr. Alex Wellerstein, who would answer my questions at all hours! All of the advisors and professors have helped to guide me through my academic and professional journeys and helped me to explore a variety of career avenues, solidifying my future path.

On her internship experiences:

In the summer after my freshman year, I had the opportunity to work as a research intern in the Nagajyothi Laboratory at the Center for Discovery and Innovation. There, I researched the role of fat cells in the progression of chronic heart disease. Wanting to explore more in the realm of healthcare, in the summer after my sophomore year, I shadowed neurologists and various members of the patient care team at Hackensack University Medical Center. Most recently, this past summer, I was a training intern at Topcon Medical Systems, where I worked with the Global Education and Training team to update older training courses for various eyecare devices to ensure consistency with newly released courses. I also had the opportunity to develop new training courses for newer equipment before its future release.

On her campus involvement:

Beginning in my freshman year, I was able to get involved on campus in a variety of ways. I have served as TechFest director for the Entertainment Committee for three years, and am a team lead within the Peer Leader program. I am also an executive board member of Sigma Delta Tau, a member of the Residence Hall Association and work for the office of Undergraduate Admissions as a tour guide and student ambassador. I was also a member of the 2024 student government cabinet.

Asking me to pick my favorite activity is like asking my mom to pick her favorite child! Each experience has been so unique and special to me, and I can’t imagine my time at Stevens without them. The people I’ve met through my various involvements have become some of my best friends.

Overall, if I had to choose a favorite activity, I do really enjoy being Tillie’s unofficial handler. Watching her become a part of the Stevens family has been so special to me.

Also, some of my success is due to the amazing team in the Office of Undergraduate Student Life and Student Affairs, especially Danielle Eisenberg, Stephanie Hios, Dr. Sara Klein and Dean Ken Nilsen, who have all helped me continue to grow as a leader.

On the advice she would give her first-year self:

I would tell myself that everything happens for a reason.

On her post-graduation plans:

I am currently in the process of applying to doctoral programs for occupational therapy.
