As an F-1 student, you are required to maintain your F-1 status by abiding by certain regulatory requirements. Please review our webpages to the right and below on how to maintain your F-1 status.

F-1 Student Enrollment

F-1 Students must enroll in the proper amount of credits per their degree level and must maintain proper on campus presence each fall and spring semester.

Off Campus Employment

F-1 students must be approved for off campus work authorization prior to beginning employment. Read about different kinds of work authorization, such as Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), and more on our Off Campus Employment webpage.

F-1 Student SEVIS Record Updates

Whether it's updating your degree level, extending your program end date, or transferring to a new U.S. University, you must submit a request with ISSS to take action on your SEVIS Records.
