Why is an Arts Degree Valuable?
Creative thinking ranks fourth among the core skills companies consider essential to the workforce today, according to the World Economic Forum’s 2025 Future of Jobs Report. It’s also a skill employers expect will grow in importance in the next half-decade. As AI absorbs more routine and analytical tasks, the skills that remain distinctly valuable are those that resist easy automation. Data from the United States echo the World Economic Forum report’s conclusions. Nearly 90% of employers consider critical thinking and problem-solving to be the most important attributes in new hires, according to the National Association of Colleges and Employers’ 2025 Job Outlook. The 2026 edition of the Job Outlook found that 70% of employers use skills-based hiring practices, evaluating candidates on demonstrated abilities rather than credentials or pedigree alone.
