Stevens School Of Business Welcomes Class Of 2029

The largest first-year class in SSB history begins its academic journey

The newest members of the Stevens School of Business flock took flight this week during the annual Academic Day and welcome barbecue.

There are 271 members of the Class of 2029, topping last year's record of 226 first-year students.

This year's group represents 20 states and eight countries, including the U.S., Canada, China, Finland, India, Serbia, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates. Quantitative finance is the group's most popular major, with 78 students currently enrolled. Business and technology (56) and finance (51) also boast more than 50 students. The first-year class also includes 14 Pinnacle Scholars and 78 student-athletes spanning 18 teams.

The day's activities included welcome remarks from Dean GJ de Vreede and SSB Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies Joelle Saad-Lessler. Additionally, members of the undergraduate operations team, the Center for Student Success and the Corporate Outreach & Professional Advancement office explained their roles in the students' experience.

"There are a lot of changes happening in technology, in industry and in the way we work and learn," de Vreede told the group assembled in Burchard Hall. "I want you to be open to that change and to challenge yourself. Don't settle for what's comfortable. Push your boundaries, try new things and embrace the opportunities that come your way. The success stories will be written by those who can adapt and innovate."
