Stevens Again Ranks Among Best Colleges in the U.S.
University places No. 76 in U.S. News and World Report's Annual Rankings
Stevens Institute of Technology ranks No. 76 among the best universities in the United States, according to the U.S. News & World Report annual list of college rankings released today.
In addition to the university ranking, Stevens is featured on several standalone U.S. News lists. The university places No. 33 on the list of “Most Innovative Schools” in the nation — tied with Princeton as the only schools from New Jersey to make the list — No. 56 in “Best Undergraduate Teaching” and No. 63 in “Best Value Schools.”
At the program level, Stevens appears on three lists of best overall undergraduate programs — in Business Programs, up eight spots; Computer Science Programs, in the Top 100; and Engineering Programs, which jumped to No. 71, up 11 spots from last year.
Reflecting Stevens’ remarkable transformative progress over the past decade, the university’s Class of 2028 is the most academically distinguished, diverse and second largest class in Stevens’ history. The 1,130 full-time, first-year students* who started classes this semester were selected from a highly competitive pool representing all 50 states, seven U.S. territories and 113 countries. More than 24% are from underrepresented ethnic groups — a Stevens’ record and 22% jump from last year — and 34% are women. They represent 31 states and 19 countries, and nearly 21% are first-generation college students.
Year over year, the return on investment for a Stevens degree remains among the highest in the nation — most recently recognized on Payscale’s College ROI Report as No. 18 among “Best-value colleges ranked by ROI” and No. 1 among “Best-Value Colleges in New Jersey.” The Class of 2023, 96.4% of which secured outcomes within six months of graduation, had a record average starting salary of $85,200.
Stevens' commitment to future-ready education is exemplified by SUCCESS (Stevens Undergraduate Core Curriculum: Essential Skills for Success), which launched this fall. This innovative program equips all undergraduates with crucial 21st-century skills like leadership, ethics, and technological literacy. SUCCESS's dynamic nature ensures it evolves with emerging technologies and societal needs, continuing Stevens' tradition of producing graduates prepared to lead in the digital economy.
U.S. News, a widely recognized leader in rankings, has been publishing its annual list of best colleges and universities since 1983. The rankings are based on factors such as graduation rates, social mobility and graduate indebtedness.
Last month, Stevens was recognized by The Princeton Review as one of the nation’s best institutions for undergraduates in its annual college guide, The Best 390 Colleges: 2025 Edition. The university also No. 12 in the nation on The Princeton Review’s “Top 20 Best Career Placement” list.
