School of Engineering and Science Rises Nine Spots in 2025 U.S. News & World Report Graduate Engineering School Rankings
The Charles V. Schaefer, Jr. School of Engineering and Science at Stevens Institute of Technology lept nine spots to number 74 in the country in U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 graduate school rankings. The school also ranks in the top 30 nationally among private schools and is ranked third in New Jersey behind Princeton University and Rutgers University.
At the program level, three programs improved their ranking from 2024 and eight rank in the top 100 nationally. Both Biomedical Engineering and Materials Engineering improved five spots while Electrical Engineering programs improved four spots. All three are ranked in the top 80.
The Department of Systems and Enterprises, which joined the School of Engineering and Science this academic year, maintained its national ranking of 44 for Industrial and Systems Engineering programs. This is the highest ranking of all graduate programs at Stevens.
“It is rewarding to see such a prestigious educational publication recognize the great work being done within the School of Engineering and Science, but even more so to be recognized by our peer institutions,” said Rainer Martini, associate dean for Graduate Studies and associate professor in the Department of Physics in the School of Engineering and Science. “We look forward to continuing this upward trajectory into the ensuing years.”
Additionally, the School of Engineering and Science is the third-fastest rising institution, according to the 2025 report. The school also improved four spots in the Research Activity ranking as well as nine spots in peer assessment.
