Application Requirements
All individuals who wish to be considered for admission to a graduate program at Stevens must complete an online application. Please follow the instructions on this page to get started.
Transcripts
All applicants are required to submit official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions they have attended, regardless of whether they earned a degree.
Official transcripts must be sent directly from each institution to Stevens.

Students may submit unofficial transcripts during the application process, however official transcripts must be submitted before the first day of classes.
Unofficial transcripts can be submitted as attachments through the application itself.
Academic and/or Professional Recommendations
Most graduate degree programs require two recommendations. Select doctoral programs require three letters of recommendation.
Recommendations must be completed by people who know the applicant academically and/or professionally. Personal recommendations will not be accepted.
Within the online application, students will be prompted to submit the name and email address for their academic and/or professional references. Graduate Admissions will email listed references to request that they submit a recommendation form.
Resume/CV
Applicants to all Ph.D. programs and to both master’s and Ph.D. programs in the School of Business are required to submit a resume or CV.
Statement of Purpose
All applicants are required to submit a Statement of Purpose that details why they have chosen to apply to this particular program at Stevens.
The Statement of Purpose should be 500-1,000 words, typed in 12-point Times New Roman font.
Writing Sample
Applicants to Ph.D. programs are required to submit a writing sample. Applicants to all other programs may elect to submit a writing sample.
Writing samples must be professional in nature (i.e. the abstract from a thesis, the abstract from a research paper, a published article, etc.).
Standardized Test Scores
Applicants to Master of Science, Master of Engineering and MBA programs for the Spring 2025 and Fall 2025 terms are not required to submit GRE/GMAT scores, however, applicants who believe their GRE/GMAT scores demonstrate potential for success in graduate program may elect to submit those scores.
Applicants to all Ph.D. programs are required to submit GRE/GMAT scores.
All GRE/GMAT scores that are submitted will be considered during the application review and scholarship allocation processes.

Proof of English Language Proficiency
Depending on your native language and academic background, you may be required to provide proof of English language proficiency by submitting the results of an English language proficiency exam, such as TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo.*

Application Fee
All applicants are required to pay a $60 non-refundable Application Fee.
Application fees will be paid through the Online Application.
Score Reporting*
Students can submit self-reported test scores during the application process, but official test scores must be submitted once an applicant is admitted to Stevens. Official test scores must be sent directly from the testing agency to Stevens using the institution codes listed below:
