(Hoboken, N.J. – Jan. 14, 2020) – Driven by its commitment to providing a technology-infused education that prepares students for the future of the workforce, Stevens Institute of Technology has been named as one of the top providers of online graduate programs in the state and nation in the rankings published today by U.S. News & World Report

Stevens placed in four disciplines, ranking No. 1 in New Jersey across three—Best Online MBA, Best Online Graduate Engineering and Best Online Graduate Computer Information Technology. National rankings for all four disciplines include:

  • Best Online Graduate Computer Information Technology, No. 7

  • Best Online Graduate Engineering, No. 21

  • Best Online Graduate Business, No. 25

  • Best Online MBA, No. 40

“Our success in these rankings is a testament to the collaborative effort of our faculty and academic leadership and our commitments to student centricity and technology,” said Christophe Pierre, provost and vice president for academic affairs. "These rankings also demonstrate the excellence of our graduate programs across the School of Business, the Charles V. Schaefer, Jr. School of Engineering and Science and the School of Systems and Enterprises.”

As online learning continues to grow in popularity as an option for students due to its flexibility, especially for non-traditional students, Stevens continues to make strategic investments in delivering high-quality yet accessible graduate programs to students across the country and around the world.

“Our online graduate programs consider and address the needs for our  future workforce, infusing in-demand skills such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and data analytics across disciplines in a way that gives our students a leg up in their careers,” said Costas Chassapis, senior vice provost for graduate education. “Also, those who engage in online learning will have an advantage in their respective fields because they are learning to work in a distributed virtual environment.  At Stevens, they are interacting with the latest technology and communications platforms in a meaningful way.”

Through the Stevens award-winning online learning unit, WebCampus, students follow the same curriculum as their on-campus counterparts and learn from the same faculty members through a multimedia-rich experience that allows for real-time interaction. The close-knit collaboration between instructors and WebCampus staff, combined with focused support services for students, has helped Stevens stretch the boundaries of what’s possible in online education.

Stevens is positioning for further growth by continuing to invest cutting-edge technology for online education. This includes the newly-opened Gateway Academic Center, which features 10 technology-enabled smart classrooms which are equipped for active video conferencing for online learning which will allow for students and faculty to have an even more integrated experience.

At Stevens, the average age of students participating in online graduate programs is 33-years-old, signaling a continued demand for working professionals to keep pace with new technology and cultivate a peak performance mindset. One-third of students enrolled at StevensOnline graduate program are through corporate partnerships, which has also provided employees from different sectors of the company and parts of the world a unique forum to collaborate.

“We have a students-first mentality,” said Chassapis. “ Our online and on-campus students, no matter the stage in their career – they are front and center in all that we do.”

For each discipline, U.S. News evaluated five categories: student engagement, expert opinion, faculty credentials and training, student excellence, and student services and technologies. For the 2020 edition, U.S. News assessed more than 1,600 online degree programs – an all-time high; and further ranked 242 programs across 18 more specialized focuses like the MBA.
