How/why did you decide to contribute your time as a Stevens volunteer?
I’ve always liked being involved and staying in touch with fellow alumni. I also really am proud of how Stevens has developed, innovated and grown over the years.
What drew you to your particular volunteer activity or activities?
The Industry Torchbearers in IT network was especially of interest since it tied into my job as a healthcare chief information security officer.
What excites you most about what you do for Stevens?
It is gratifying to see the value we bring to other alumni in their careers and exciting when we know we have encouraged their ongoing engagement with the university.
How has volunteering for Stevens impacted you personally?
Being active in the Stevens alumni community leads to new connections and strengthens existing ones, especially in IT and information security.
What do you feel is the impact of alumni involvement in the university?
Alumni involvement is great for the university financially while also creating a valuable source of feedback from alumni from across the country for its future. The students also benefit from alumni interactions. They gain an appreciation for Stevens’ history, as well insights into their own career plans.
What would you say to other alumni who were considering volunteering at Stevens?
There are so many ways to get involved that require just a few hours a month, and little to no travel, and the benefits outweigh the efforts by far. Also, bring a friend!
