School of Business Welcomes New Faculty

Experts in fintech, information systems, machine learning, marketing, entrepreneurship and quantitative finance are ready to prepare Stevens students

A diverse faculty with robust experience in academia and industry has been the foundation of the Stevens School of Business’ rise to national prominence, and this year’s new additions to the roster of instructors will further strengthen the ways in which the School of Business serves students and the community.

“It is my distinct pleasure to welcome this distinguished group to our faculty,” said first-year Dean of the School of Business GJ de Vreede. “These four individuals bring a wealth of expertise in critical areas, and their experience and knowledge will give our students valuable insights as we shape them into the thinkers, doers, and innovators who will be future leaders in business and society. It is an honor and privilege to join this group as we begin our Stevens journey together. I am eager to lead such a talented and committed group as we help our students fulfill their unlimited potential.”

As new technologies and innovations present daily opportunities and challenges to traditional business education, the Stevens faculty uses leading-edge tools and methods while keeping students grounded in universal skills such as critical thinking, analytics, problem-solving and communication that will serve as the building blocks of their education and future work.

Aleksi Aaltonen

Associate Professor of Information Systems

Aleksi Aaltonen HeadshotAleksi Aaltonen is a management scholar and a successful entrepreneur with 30 years of experience in data-based innovation and organizing. He holds a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He has published on digital data, platforms and new forms of organizing in leading academic journals such as Management Science, Information Systems Research and MIS Quarterly. Before joining academia, Aleksi worked for CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation, an organization established by Nobel Peace Laureate and former President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari. He also founded an activity tracking app, Moves, that was acquired by Facebook. Currently, Aleksi serves as an Associate Editor at the European Journal of Information Systems and maintains the Data Studies Bibliography (datastudiesbibliography.org).


Eunkyung An

Assistant Professor in Marketing

Eunkyung Ang HeadshotEunkyung An received her Ph.D. in marketing from the Stern School of Business at New York University. She also holds an M.A. in quantitative methods in the social sciences from Columbia University and a B.S. in human factors engineering from Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology in Korea. Her research focuses on quantitative marketing, primarily aiming to understand consumer behavior on online platforms, and she employs various quantitative methods in her research including structural modeling, machine learning and field experiments. Currently, her research is centered around consumer search on online platforms, discovering market structure from unstructured data and exploring the formation of persistent behavior in using fitness apps, its dynamic implications on users and the financial performance of the platforms.


Chuyi Sun

Assistant Professor in Finance

Chuyi Sun HeadshotChuyi Sun received her Ph.D. in finance from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, obtained an M.S. in quantitative finance from Washington University in St. Louis, and earned a B.S. in risk management science from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Prior to beginning her doctorate, she worked as a senior associate at Fidelity Investments in Boston. She conducts research spanning fintech, household finance and behavioral finance. Leveraging big data, her work studies how emerging financial technology can serve as a valuable lens through which researchers can gain deeper insights into household financial decision-making. Her papers have been accepted for presentation at several major conferences, including the annual meetings of the American Finance Association, American Economic Association and Financial Management Association.


Zonghao Yang

Assistant Professor in Fintech

Zonghao Yang HeadshotZonghao Yang received his Ph.D. in data science from City University of Hong Kong and his B.S. in statistics from Southern University of Science and Technology. His research primarily focuses on financial technology and applied machine learning. He is particularly interested in leveraging machine learning tools, including NLP/LLM, computer vision and deep learning, to address challenges in the financial sector that involve large and multi-modal datasets. His work studying portfolio optimization of online lending loans has been published in Information Systems Research. Before his Ph.D. he gained industry experience working with Mars Inc. and Kuaishou Technology, the main competitor of Chinese TikTok.
