New Wi-Fi coming this fall

With Wi-Fi as the primary method of access to the Stevens network, our users require a reliable, highly scalable, and modern infrastructure. We are happy to announce that we are upgrading Stevens Next-Gen Wi-Fi across the entire campus.

In January, we started a proof of concept with three top wireless vendors. We put them through an intensive evaluation process which included:

  • Support for new technologies such as Wi-Fi 6, IoT devices, AI, and machine learning.

  • Test deployments in dorm rooms

  • Feedback from peer institutes

  • Scorecards

  • Gartner evaluation

Our next immediate steps are to award the contract to a selected vendor and start the wireless survey. We will share additional information to the community as it becomes available.
