Meet Tillie, Stevens' New Campus Pup!

Attila’s new best friend officially joins Stevens this August

After sifting through a slew of creative name suggestions on Instagram, Stevens is thrilled to introduce a new four-legged friend: Tillie Stella Stevens, a lovable Goldendoodle who will offer emotional support and comfort to students, faculty and staff. Born on Dec. 12, 2024, Tillie is an eager Sagittarius, ready to join the Stevens family and bring her irresistible cuddles to every Duck she meets.

Because Tillie is still in training, she won’t be a permanent fixture on campus just yet, but will officially join Stevens in late August as a member of the Class of 2029, alongside the incoming students. Once she’s settled into her new college routine, she’ll be based in the Office of Student Affairs on the second floor of the University Center Complex, where she’ll be accompanied by her handler, Dean of Students Ken Nilsen. Tillie will be accessible through special appointments, and you may also spot her at events, enjoying a leisurely stroll or indulging in a “Pup Cup” at America’s Cup.

“As Tillie’s caregiver, I’m excited to see the positive impact she will have on our campus community,” said Nilsen. “Her presence is more than just comforting — it’s a reminder that even in the busiest, most stressful moments, there’s always space for compassion, connection and a moment of calm. I’m looking forward to seeing how she brings joy and support to our students, and I feel honored to be a part of this journey with her.”

Her arrival is part of a broader Stevens initiative to prioritize mental health and well-being for our student body. “As we welcome Tillie to Stevens, we’re not just adding a pet to our campus — we’re investing in the well-being of our students and strengthening our commitment to mental health,” said Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Sara Klein. “College life can be stressful, and it's easy to feel isolated, but the presence of a therapy dog reminds us that we don’t have to navigate challenges alone."

The best part? Tillie is hypoallergenic, making her love and companionship accessible to everyone, regardless of allergies!
