Calvin St. Juste M.S. ’07 shares top leadership experience as Morgan Stanley’s Wealth Management Financial Wellness Chief Operating Officer and Head of Business Strategy, where he led financial health initiatives for the bank’s Fortune 500 clients. Learn how the unique education that St. Juste received at Stevens prepared him to support the financial goals of employees from entry level through the C-Suite.

Calvin St. Juste, CSM ’07 knows better than to make assumptions about what people do – and do not – know about their own financial health. In his role as Chief Operating Officer and Head of Business Strategy for Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Financial Wellness, St. Juste met his company’s clients exactly where they were, and exceeded their expectations.

“Morgan Stanley’s Wealth Management Financial Wellness serves all of the financial needs of its clients’ employees at all levels,” St. Juste explained. “The services provided range from assistance to the entry level employee who is learning how to budget, and could use strategies for paying down student loans. The company also caters to the CEO who may need advice on estate planning and philanthropy.”

St. Juste enthusiastically and passionately shared that he viewed his role at Morgan Stanley’s Wealth Management Financial Wellness as more than a job. He considered it a mission. He said, “I see a lot of people who have a good relationship with their money.”

He continued, “As Chief Operating Officer and Head of Business Strategy, my team and I collaboratively, effectively and efficiently assisted our clients in navigating the legal, compliance and strategic aspects of financial management, which can prove to be an overwhelming process. Additionally, I must note that my Stevens education adequately prepared me for this role. I am not only speaking in terms of the academics, which was outstanding. Most importantly, I make reference to the emphasis that Stevens places on the importance of teamwork and collaboration. Stevens prepares future leaders and thinkers to ‘innovate, anticipate, and collaborate.’ I have taken the lessons learned with me to every post that I have held since attending Stevens. They have served me well. Stevens has served me well. When I learned about Stevens, what stood out was the emphasis on preparing its students to arrive and thrive in the real world.”

St. Juste explained that he did not plan on pursuing a career in finance. In fact, he was on track to pursue a degree in computer science when a mentor suggested an alternate route. “My mentor told me that I was too personable to sit in front of a computer all day,” St. Juste said with a laugh. “This was when I began thinking about ways in which I could balance my love for technology, and developing myself as a leader.”

This was the beginning of an agile, and highly successful, career. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2018, St. Juste’s roles included Executive Director of Digital Care Strategy and Customer Operations for Comcast; Senior Director – Telemedicine/Teleneurology for SOC Telemed; Head of MidAtlantic Customer Advocacy at Capital One; Associate Director of Budget and Management for the State of Maryland; Project Manager for Susquehanna International Group, LLP; Vice President & Senior Project Manager for JP Morgan Investment Bank; Statistical Officer for Eastern Caribbean Central Bank; and Relationship Manager for Royal Bank of Canada.

In addition to the Master’s in Global Innovation Management and Project Management he earned at Stevens, St. Juste holds an MBA Essentials Certificate from The London School of Economics. A Certified ScrumMaster©, he also completed coursework in Finance and Management at Wharton’ Executive Business program. He is the holder of a Bachelor’s degree Goldey-Beacom College. He also successfully completed and passed the University of Cambridge Advance Level International Exam in Economics and Business.

When discussing his decision to study at Stevens, St. Juste shared, “I was keen on a graduate program with an emphasis on practical tools as well as a global perspective. I also wanted to delve more into technology. I was looking for a program that would prepare me to be the leader that I am today. I realized that Stevens provided this unique experience.”

St. Juste has had many opportunities to apply what he learned at Stevens. “I have transitioned through several fields, including telecom, financial services, banking and teleneurology,” he observes. “Stevens prepared me to look at things from a project lens, and then add the technology and global perspectives. I am not a technologist, but I understand the principles of how technology can help. I am more prepared to bring process, people and tools together.”

In speaking of Stevens’ appeal St. Juste noted that he misses the ambience of Castle Point. “Being at Stevens was like being at home,” he said. “Stevens’ has a unique charm or appeal. I always enjoyed looking out over the Hudson.”

Since his graduation in 2007, St. Juste’s pulse has remained on the happenings at Stevens. He keeps abreast of campus news, and consistently follows the growth and development of the university.  He is particularly impressed with Stevens’ new initiatives, and is encouraged to see the concerted efforts made in terms of diversity and inclusivity.

“Studying at Stevens is such a great opportunity and choice.” he adds. “The intellectual capacity held at Stevens’ is second to none, the academic rigor, the required discipline, the emphasis on teamwork, collaboration, innovation, is a winning formula. Let me also add that the emphasis placed on interdisciplinary teams to create new products, solutions and services as a part of one’s educational experience at Stevens leads to success in the real world, and distinguishes Stevens from many other universities.”

St. Juste ability to take the spark of an idea and make it real has led to his success. He has recently assumed a new role as The Global Audit Head of Technology Enablement at T Rowe Price where he will provide executive leadership and execute the strategy and vision for the Internal Audit Quality and Ops teams to align with T Rowe Price Global Technology Strategy. With his Steven’s education he has always made what some may consider impossible become possible.

St. Juste was recently appointed to the Stevens Institute of Technology Business School board of advisors.
