Launchpad@Stevens
Launchpad@Stevens is a 12-month program that provides Stevens students with the opportunity to learn entrepreneurship and innovation by working with real-world entrepreneurs in building new technology-based businesses.
Launchpad@Stevens kicks off in the spring semester each year with a preparatory meeting where students learn how to identify ideas with potential commercial viability and the steps involved in building a startup. Working with Launchpad@Stevens Director, Dr. Mukundan Iyengar or entrepreneurs from the community, they create teams to implement their business idea and create a viable business.
Mukundan Iyengar, Launchpad Director
Launchpad@Stevens is directed by electrical and computer engineering assistant professor Mukundan Iyengar, an Edison Patent Award winner and Founding-Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Stevens Venture Center.
Preparing For Success
To date, student-led startup companies founded within the Launchpad@Stevens program have a combined valuation of $36 Million, including:
iUbble founded by Kevin Barresi as a junior at Stevens, was dedicated to creating a better search engine. With guidance from seasoned fintech business entrepreneur Jim Tousignant, iUbble pivoted and focused on building a Wall Street-centric search and analytics platform. iUbble was acquired by
and Barresi now serves as chief technology officer of that fast-growing company.
DataMinded Solutions founded by Justin Williams and Nishant Panchal sophomores at Stevens, was developing a patient diabetes management portal. Through intensive customer discovery, the team pivoted to developing a unique suite of software and digital tools that provide a vision and implementation path for integrated healthcare delivery systems. Rebranded as Noteworth, the company is headquartered in Hoboken and continues its strong growth five years after its beginnings.
Savizar was started by Dillon Uzar, Alex Sabella and Sarah Vitkus. In the course of developing a patent search engine tool, they realized that they had developed a database storage engine that provides unprecedented data analytics speed using a fraction of the hardware typically required. They discovered that their storage engine was faster and performed better than anything they had ever used – and not just on patents. Rebranded as DexterityDB, the company plans to launch its product to big data users in the first quarter of 2019.
