Regalia – Academic Attire

Regalia is required for all graduating students participating in Commencement and must be ordered in advance of the ceremony. If you do not order your regalia, you will not be able to participate in the ceremony. Regalia will not be distributed at the ceremony, so make sure you obtain your attire in a timely fashion. There is no cost to obtain your regalia, but you will incur a shipping fee if you chose to have your regalia shipped to an address of choice. The regalia is yours to keep after the ceremony.

Graduating students must show their DuckCard in order to pick up your regalia at Grad Fair on May 1 and 2, 2024.

If you cannot pick up your regalia at Grad Fair and would like someone else to pick it up for you, please provide them with a letter from you authorizing them to pick up your regalia on your behalf, as well as a photograph of your Duck Card.

Attire cannot be picked up after Commencement because it is immediately shipped back to the vendor to make room in the Bookstore for summer session supplies.

Important Dates

March 29 – Last day to order regalia for Grad Fair pickup

April 22 – Last day to order regalia for shipping to a preferred address

The deadlines are final and cannot be extended due to production and shipping restrictions. We recommend you order your attire as soon as possible to avoid delays.

Philanthropy Cords - 2024 Senior Class Gift

Each year, graduating Stevens students participate in a tradition in which they rally behind their class gift. The Class of 2024 has selected the Stevens Students Emergency Fund. Each candidate making a class gift of at least $20.24 will receive a green Philanthropy cord. This cord is intended to be worn at your Commencement ceremony as a symbol of your generosity and Stevens pride.

Baccalaureate and Master Package

The regalia package for bachelor’s and master’s degrees will include ONE EACH: black gown, hood, black mortarboard cap, and a red and gray tassel (directions on how to wear your hood are included). Students receiving more than one degree will receive a second hood (if applicable) without charge.

Additional Distinctions

University academic honor distinctions, such as cords, stoles or pins will be distributed by the designated departments. Please inquire with the group for details. Students with double degrees (from two different colleges) will need to decide with which degree they will line up, process and sit during the ceremony. Your hood (color of velvet stripe) must also reflect this decision.

Doctor of Philosophy Package

The attire package for Ph.D. candidates will include ONE EACH: red and gray gown, hood, black tam, and a red and gray tassel (directions on how to wear your hood are included).

Academic Hoods

Your academic hood represents your university and degree. The inside of your hood will consist of red and gray stripes which represent the Stevens university colors. The velvet stripe on the tops of your academic hood represents the degree you will earn. Please make sure that the velvet stripe on your hood corresponds to the degree you will earn. You may not opt for a different color. They are as follows:
