Stevens Center for Sustainability Scholarship Programs

Stevens Center for Sustainability provides scholarship opportunities to students at every stage of their academic journey.

These scholarships encourage and support research that incorporates an environmental justice perspective into sustainability solutions, such as green infrastructure and renewable energy projects.

The scholarships are an investment in a shared vision for a sustainable future which promises to enrich the academic journey of our students - especially those from underserved communities - and empower them to tackle the pressing environmental issues of our time.

Pre-College Programs

PSEG Pre-College Environmental Justice Scholarship

PSEG Pre-College Environmental Justice Scholarship Program offers up to 58 scholarships over three summers for students involved in the Stevens ACES Pre-College program.

ACES Pre-College Summer Program: Sustainability and Environmental Justice Course

The Stevens Center for Sustainability is developing a specialized sustainability and environmental justice course powered by PSEG for the Pre-College Summer Program.

Undergraduate-Level Programs

PSEG Undergraduate Research Scholars for Environmental Justice

This program allows 20 undergraduate students at Stevens to engage in meaningful research starting their sophomore year, working closely with faculty mentors on interdisciplinary projects with a focus on sustainability and environmental justice.

Scholars will perform research with faculty members on projects in:

  • Environmental & energy sustainability (Planet)

  • Social & community sustainability (People)

  • Business and economic sustainability (Prosperity)


  • Undergraduate students from all disciplines who will have completed their freshman year in a 4-year or 2-year college are eligible

  • Scholars will work for 10 weeks, 40 hours per week during the summer, under the guidance of a college or university faculty member

  • Scholars will receive a stipend of $7,500 for the summer research project

PSEG Ph.D. Research Scholars for Environmental Justice

Four doctoral scholarships are available for research that addresses sustainable environmental and energy challenges faced by overburdened communities, with an emphasis on including students from underserved backgrounds.
