Duck Diaries: Merging Music and Media

Yzabel Breboneria graduated from Stevens in May 2024. During her time at Stevens, she secured multiple internships that empowered her to explore her passions for music and social media. She is excited to share her exciting career path with us. You can read her story here.

Hi! I’m Yzabel Breboneria, a Class of 2024 graduate from Stevens. Since I was young, I’ve always been passionate about music, the arts and social media. My time at Stevens gave me incredible opportunities to pursue those passions and fuel my aspirations.

Growing up, I was involved in theater and studied music and audio engineering. In high school, I taught myself music production and released my first independent album, based on my experiences growing up in the South. I came to Stevens as a music and technology major. The summer after my first year, I secured a spot in a competitive mentorship program with Alicia Keys' non-profit organization, She Is The Music, a global network committed to driving inclusivity and equality for women working in music. As part of the program, I created a song about the theme of women's empowerment.

In fall 2021, I landed an internship as an audio engineer at Invite Only Studios in New York City, where I had the opportunity to learn from audio engineers working with top artists like Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj. These amazing experiences greatly expanded my knowledge of music and technology and provided access to incredible mentors!

Because of my interest in social media marketing (I basically grew up on YouTube), I decided to fuse my passion for the arts with business, and I changed my major to marketing innovation and analytics. In summer 2023, I earned an internship with Protiviti, a consulting firm, where I worked as an NYC consulting intern in the digital division. I helped develop marketing assets, storyboards, corporate social media and more. I also participated in the Girls In Marketing three-day internship program and learned new skills in SEO (search engine optimization), social media marketing and branding. Both opportunities enhanced my marketing perspective and my overall education.

My experience at Protiviti left a lasting impact on me. After graduation, I returned there as a full-time NYC digital consultant. I plan to pursue music production and social media on the side as well! My journey at Stevens has been invaluable to my success, even with ups and downs, like starting college during Covid. I was truly honored to be the recipient of the Florida Endowed Scholarship for three years, and I will be forever grateful to Stevens Florida alumni for their support.

Stevens helped me to explore my passions, acquire crucial skills and develop so many connections within the unique Stevens community. Thank you! I am immensely grateful for the experience!
