The Board of Trustees is responsible for overseeing the financial, administrative and academic affairs of Stevens. The Board is comprised of men and women who are accomplished professionals, business executives and educators, several of whom sit on the boards of leading corporations, international organizations and non-profit organizations.
Stephen T. Boswell
Stephen T. Boswell is a Trustee and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Stevens Institute of Technology. Dr. Boswell is the former President and CEO of Boswell Engineering, a multi-state, multi-discipline civil and environmental consulting firm. He currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Boswell Engineering. Dr. Boswell is a licensed professional engineer in 28 states including New Jersey, where he is a licensed professional planner and site remediation professional and a certified municipal engineer and public works manager. Dr. Boswell is a member of the Board of Trustees of Hackensack Meridian Health and is president of the Buehler Challenger and Science Center Board. He is also a founder and Lead Independent Director of the Board of NASDAQ-listed ConnectOne Bank. Dr. Boswell is an elected Fellow of both the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Council of Engineering Companies. He holds a B.A. in biology/chemistry from New York University, an M.A. in biological sciences from William Paterson University, and the Degree of Civil Engineer (a double M.S. in Civil Engineering) and a Ph.D. in environmental engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology.
Saleel V. Awsare
Saleel Awsare joined Lantronix in November of 2023 as President and CEO of the company. Mr. Awsare came to Lantronix from Synaptics Inc., a leading provider of semiconductor products worldwide, where he served as senior vice president and general manager of its Enterprise and Mobile Division, its largest division. After joining Synaptics in 2017, Mr. Awsare was an integral part of Synaptics’s pivot from Mobile to the IoT and enterprise markets, a move that proved instrumental in driving its multi-fold increase in market valuation. Previously, he served in several senior roles including president of Conexant Systems, LLC, and president of Nuvoton Technology Corporation America. He holds a B.S. from Stevens Institute of Technology and an M.S. from Santa Clara University. He has five patents and has written for multiple publications. Mr. Awsare is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Stevens Institute of Technology since September 2017.
Lawrence T. Babbio
Lawrence T. Babbio is Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees of Stevens Institute of Technology. He is a former vice chairman and president of Verizon, who had responsibility for the Verizon Telecom and Verizon Business units and served as a member of the Board of Directors of Verizon Wireless. He is the former CEO and Chair of the Board of Afiniti, a leading provider of artificial intelligence that improves customer experience, and he currently serves as a Director on Afiniti’s Board of Trustees. He previously held senior advisor roles at Tap Advisors, LLC and Warburg Pincus. Dr. Babbio began his communications career in 1966 with New Jersey Bell Telephone. He served in a variety of positions in engineering network construction, and technology development with New Jersey Bell and AT&T. In January 1995 he was elected vice chairman of Bell Atlantic Corporation. Prior to the Bell Atlantic/GTE merger, Dr. Babbio was president and chief operating officer for Bell Atlantic. He shared oversight of, and responsibility for, all of the corporation’s business operations, the restructuring of the business units, the GTE merger process, and the development of new growth opportunities. Dr. Babbio also served as chairman of the company’s Global Wireless Group, one of the largest wireless operations worldwide. He was the lead executive in charge of developing Bell Atlantic’s domestic and international wireless communications strategy. Under his leadership, Bell Atlantic substantially increased the size and scope of its domestic and international wireless holdings. Dr. Babbio served on the Board of Directors of Hewlett-Packard Company from 2002 to 2012. He previously served on the board of Compaq Computer Corporation. He also served on the board of ARAMARK Corporation from 1999 to 2017. He holds a B.E. in electrical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, and an M.B.A. from New York University.
Devon E. Brooks
Devon E. Brooks is a highly accomplished International Senior Executive and Consultant with 30 years of success in the financial services (banking and insurance) and risk/audit management industries. Mr. Brooks has a proven track record of driving enterprise-wide cultural change and developing leaders. Throughout his executive career, Mr. Brooks has held leadership roles with Citigroup, New York Life, Northern Trust Corporation, Protiviti, and Bank One/JPMorgan Chase. In his current Risk Governance Senior Vice President role with Citigroup, Devon works with Citigroup’s senior executive-level governance committees that oversee all risks, with a focus on improving alignment and coordination across committees to demonstrate robust corporate governance processes. Prior to his current role, Devon was the Head of Risk Practices and Strategy for New York Life, where he was responsible for cross-functional strategy setting and initiative delivery, budgeting and financial management, talent acquisition process oversight, change management, and program management, including advancement of the third party and model risk management disciplines. At Northern Trust, Devon was an Enterprise Governance, Risk and Compliance Executive, and Head of Audit for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), where he was a member of the EMEA Leadership Council and responsible for managing delivery of a program of risk assessments at the country, regional and global levels. As a consultant, Mr. Brooks’ main areas of focus included building solutions for global institutions, managing programs and developing tools for merger and acquisition efforts, providing subject matter expertise for audit projects, and leading model validation teams. Mr. Brooks holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a M.S. in Finance from DePaul University. He also maintains a Project Management Professional certification. Mr. Brooks is a member of the Global Association of Risk Professionals; Professional Risk Managers’ International Association; and a former Board Committee member of the Project Management Institute.
Charles Buscarino is a recognized leader in the design and implementation of integrated smart building systems and has over 35 years of experience in the development of technology solutions in real estate projects. He founded The Clarient Group (TCG) in 2002 to focus on the holistic implementation of technology solutions for projects of all types with a focus on how technology can be leveraged to enhance the lives of occupants and property owners. Under his leadership, the firm has developed innovative solutions for more than 100 clients and 60 million square feet of properties, including many well-known signature projects. The firm's visionary work includes headquarters, higher education, experimental entertainment/retail, healthcare, etc. for a variety of world class clients seeking to maximize their strategic and operational goals. Mr. Buscarino holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from Stevens Institute of Technology. Upon graduating Stevens, he joined Hazeltine Corporation as a digital design engineer supporting the development of a Microwave Landing System (MLS) for the FAA. Mr. Buscarino later moved to Cosentini Associates to create and head the firm's Information Technologies Division. Under his direction, the division grew to become a strategic component of the firms' professional services offering technology consulting and design solutions to clients worldwide. Mr. Buscarino previously served as an Alumni Trustee on the Stevens Board of Trustees. He currently serves on the Stevens Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Advisory Board, RealComm's IBcon Advisory Council and has served on InfoComm's Integrated Buildings Task Force. He has spoken at numerous industry events for leading organizations in the design, real estate, and technology fields.
Mary Anne Cannon
Mary Anne Cannon is Pratt & Whitney's (P&W) vice president, West Palm Beach, Florida site and Development Operations. She is responsible for oversight and leadership of the West Palm Beach campus, inclusive of anticipated growth and leads the Development Operations organization across all P&W sites, encompassing Engine Assembly, Instrumentation & Test Operations. She is responsible for meeting Engine Assembly, Instrumentation & Test-related customer requirements in the areas of cost, quality, schedule and delivery, as well as developing organizational talent. Prior to this role, Ms. Cannon was vice president, Operational Commercial Programs and was responsible for developing and managing the product line life-cycle strategies and ensuring customer requirements were met for multiple engine product lines. Ms. Cannon has 30 years of experience at P&W across Engineering, Quality, Operations and Program organizations. She served on P&W's executive committee as vice president of Quality and Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S). She was responsible for the continued development and administration of P&W's Quality and EH&S policies and practices worldwide as well as ensuring compliance with corporate, federal and state requirements, product integrity and quality assurance and Achieving Comprehensive Excellence (ACE) continuous improvement activities. Prior to joining P&W in 1989 at the West Palm Beach location, Ms. Cannon started her career at Grumman Aerospace Corp. She earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in 1986. Ms. Cannon is passionate about supporting women in STEM roles. She devotes her time to mentoring young women in both college and at P&W and most recently she and her husband established a scholarship at her alma mater, Stevens, to support women pursuing an engineering degree. Ms. Cannon serves on the President's Leadership Council for Stevens, has served on the Industry Advisory Board for Western New England School of Engineering and the foundation Board of Central Connecticut State University. Ms. Cannon is a lifetime member of the Association of Women in Aviation (AWAM) and a 20 year member of Women in Aviation, International.
Karen S. Carolonza
Karen Carolonza is a proven public relations and communications professional with gobal experience in the healthcare, chemical, and TV news industries. Ms. Carolonza is one of the founding partners of Green Room Communications, building strategic teams to meet the critical and evolving needs of her pharmaceutical, medical technology, and biotech clients, including the C-suite and their executive leadership teams. Green Room has spent the last 12 years providing corporate and brand communications, media relations, advocacy relations, creative services, and contract staffing to global healthcare companies. Before starting Green Room, Ms. Carolonza was head of worldwide public relations of BD (Becton Dickinson & Company) and was responsible for the creation of the first-ever global public relations department. She and her team developed programs in support of key businesses, including HIV/AIDS, TB, diabetes, influenza, healthcare-associated infections, ophthalmology, and other global health issues. During her time at BD, Ms. Carolonza liaised with UNICEF/UNAIDS to announce the Clinton Foundation's move to cut prices on AIDS tests. She also served as a volunteer on the CDC Foundation to advocate for Health Protection Goals. Prior to joining BD, Ms. Carolonza was responsible for leading public relations teams and programs at the Pharmacia Corporation (now Pfizer) supporting the Hospital Products and Oncology businesses. Ms. Carolonza also served as communications lead at DuPont-Merck as part of the launch team for the first once-daily HIV medicine. She has additional expertise in corporate issues management, including Exxon Chemical Company where she was hired away from TV news to help manage the Valdez crisis. Ms. Carolonza spent the first part of her career as an NBC affiliate television news reporter in the Midwest and in cable news on the East Coast, reporting on the key healthcare and political issues. Ms. Carolonza sits on several nonprofit boards, including Soft Bones: The U.S. Hypophosphatasia Foundation; national cancer respite organization Mary's Place by the Sea; and the international foundation to stop sexual violence Together for Girls. She has been recognized as a Leading Woman Entrepreneur in New Jersey and in 2014 was among the top 25 in the state. In 2016, she was awarded Bravo's SmartCEO Award. In 2019, she was chosen by NJ Biz as a Leading Mom Entrepreneur. Ms. Carolonza is a 1992 graduate of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
Pam P. Cheng
Pam Cheng joined AstraZeneca in 2015 as executive vice president of Global Operations and Information Technology ("IT"), guiding the company's manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, and IT across 18 countries and leading a team of over 20,000. Under her leadership, AstraZeneca Global Operations has transformed significantly driving top performance across the business while delivering value back to the enterprise. The next phase of transformation includes the convergence of operational excellence and digital innovation, building the "Factory of the Future". Before AstraZeneca Ms. Cheng spent 18 years in global manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial roles at Merck/MSD. As president of MSD China, she was responsible for MSD's entire business in China - sales and marketing, commercial operations, and oversight of manufacturing and research and development. Prior to that, she was head of Global Supply Chain Management and Logistics for Merck and led the transformation of Merck supply chains across the global supply network. Before joining the Biopharmaceutical industry, she worked in engineering and project management roles at Universal Oil Products, Union Carbide Corporation and GAF Chemicals. In addition to her executive role at AstraZeneca, Ms. Cheng is a nonexecutive director for the board at Smiths Group plc. Ms. Cheng holds bachelor's and master's degrees in chemical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and an MBA in marketing from Pace University.
Thomas A. Corcoran
Thomas A. Corcoran is a Trustee and Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of Stevens Institute of Technology. Dr. Corcoran has been a senior advisor for The Carlyle Group and is president of Corcoran Enterprises, LLC, a management consulting company. Previously he was president/CEO of Gemini Air Cargo (a Carlyle-owned company), where he successfully led a business restructuring. Prior to Gemini, Dr. Corcoran was president and CEO of Allegheny Teledyne. Prior to that, he was president and COO of Lockheed Martin's electronics and space sectors, leading the business to a doubling in sales. Dr. Corcoran began his career in 1967 at General Electric Company, where he progressed rapidly through increasingly responsible positions. In 1990, he was elected a corporate officer and rose to vice president and general manager at GE Aerospace Operations. Dr. Corcoran is currently a director with two US-listed public companies - L-3 Technologies and Aerojet Rocketdyne. Dr. Corcoran is a trustee emeritus at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and he is active with the American Ireland Fund, where he is a director. He earned a B.S. in engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology and is a graduate of the GE Manufacturing Management Program. He is also the recipient of an honorary doctorate from Stevens.
Philip P. Crowley
Philip P. Crowley, Esq., is a lawyer focused on helping startup and emerging companies in the life sciences and other technology areas. From 1982 to 2015, he served as assistant general counsel of Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick, New Jersey focusing on mergers, acquisitions and corporate transactions as well as FDA regulatory law for Johnson & Johnson's high technology companies. Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson, Mr. Crowley spent several years with large New York City law firms in the mergers and acquisitions and securities areas. Mr. Crowley is a past president of the Stevens Alumni Association and past chairman of the Edwin A. Stevens Society. He has served as a director of the Association of Corporate Counsel, the international bar association for in-house counsel, and as an officer and director of its New Jersey chapter. Mr. Crowley is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey. He holds a B.S. in physics from Stevens Institute of Technology, an M.S. in applied physics from Harvard University, and a J.D. from the Columbia University Law School. Mr. Crowley is a recipient of the Stevens Alumni Award.
John R. Dearborn
John R. Dearborn recently retired after 36 years of contribution to the energy, petrochemicals, chemicals and plastics industries. Mr. Dearborn retired as Senior Vice President of NGL & Petchem Services for Williams Energy Company after divesting his business assets to raise $3.0 billion for general use by the Company. The NG&L Petchem Services portfolio included Gulf Olefins and Pipelines, Canada Midstream, Midcontinent NGL services and NGL & Olefins trading. Mr. Dearborn enjoyed a global career from his early days at Union Carbide in R&D, Sales and Marketing of UNIPOL™ PE and PP process technology and catalyst business. After serving in other corporate finance and business development roles, he then served as Vice President of UNIPOL Systems and chaired the company-wide R&D Technology Council. He led the formation of Univation, a joint venture between Union Carbide and ExxonMobil, and participated as a Board member. At the time of the Union Carbide and Dow Chemical merger, Dearborn was instrumental in securing approval from the Federal Trade Commission for the transaction. He joined Dow as Vice President of the integrated Licensing and Technology business. Dearborn then ran the Global Olefins Business and Global Energy Business before moving to Dubai, UAE as Regional President – India, Middle East and Africa. While in Dubai, Dearborn led the negotiation of the joint venture between Dow and Saudi Aramco today known as Sadara. He later joined SABIC (Saudi Arabia Basic Industries) as their regional head of North and South America. In 2013, Williams Energy invited Mr. Dearborn to serve as Vice President of NGL and Petrochemical Services operating division. Currently, he is engaged with several firms providing advisory and consulting services. Since 2013, Mr. Dearborn serves as Trustee at Stevens Institute of Technology chairing the Alumni and Development Committee and as a member of the Executive, Audit and Research Enterprise and Technology Commercialization (RETCOM) Committees. In addition, he serves on the Board of the Stevens Alumni Association. Mr. Dearborn, a Chemical Engineer, earned both a Bachelor and Master of Engineering degree from Stevens Institute of Technology in 1979 and 1981. In 1988, he earned a Master of Business Administration in finance and international business from New York University Stern School of Business.
Joseph Del Guercio
Joseph Del Guercio is the President and CEO of the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation and Managing Director for CNF Investments, LLC. He joined Clark Enterprises’ CNF Investments in 2004 as a Managing Director. Prior to joining CNF, he was a director with LPL Financial Services, a Boston- and San Diego-based independent broker dealer, with responsibility for strategic planning, new product development and acquisitions. Mr. Del Guercio started his career as an investment banker with Goldman Sachs and Robertson Stephens, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions, private and public equity financings and restructuring. He serves on the boards of American Honors College, Placecast, Terrago Technologies and Verax Biomedical, and is also an advisory board member on a number of CNF’s fund investments. Mr. Del Guercio holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor’s degree from Boston College. An avid supporter of after-school sports programs, he serves on the Investment and Grants Committees for the U.S. Soccer Foundation and is actively involved with the National Youth Baseball Academy and Cycle for Survival.
Joseph G. DiPompeo
Joseph G. DiPompeo is President of Structural Workshop, a Structural Engineering and Building Consulting firm he founded in 2004. Structural Workshop provides Structural Engineering and Building Consulting Services to a diverse clientele including many leading Architectural, Engineering, Retail, Industrial and Real Estate Development/Management Companies. Mr. DiPompeo has led the company from its founding to its position today as a long-established and rapidly growing firm with a reputation for client service and a national presence. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering, both from the Stevens Institute of Technology. Mr. DiPompeo is a Licensed Professional Engineer in 20+ states. He is also certified by the Structural Engineering Certification Board and a Fellow of both the Structural Engineering Institute and the American Society of Civil Engineers. Mr. DiPompeo is past chair of the Business Practices Committee and Business and Professional Activities Division Executive Committee of the Structural Engineering Institute and served on the Board of Governors of the Structural Engineering Institute. He is a past President of the Stevens Alumni Association and is a member of the Stevens Athletic Hall of Fame. He was the 2020-2021 National President of the Structural Engineering Institute. Mr. DiPompeo has also served on the Board of Governors of the Mountain Lakes Club and the Buildings and Grounds Committee of the Lakeland Hills Family YMCA, as well as Chairing the Mountain Lakes Economic Development Committee. Mr. DiPompeo was also named a 2021 Leader in Real Estate, Construction, and Design by NJ Biz Magazine and a 2022 Real Estate Influencer by ROI NJ.
Manuel S. Escobedo
Manuel Santiago Escobedo Conover holds a Law Degree from ITAM (Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México) with honors, and obtained a Master in Business Administration from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) in Paris in 1996. While Manuel began his career as a lawyer working with major firms like Noriega and Escobedo, he has spent most of the last 24 years in the Insurance and Reinsurance Industry. From 2000 to 2013 he was CEO of Reaseguradora Patria, S. A. Manuel is CEO of Peña Verde, S.A.B. He is also President of the Mexican Atomic Pool (PAM), responsible for organizing the insurance of civil nuclear risks in Mexico. He held the chair for the Americas on the Executive Committee of the International System of Nuclear Pools (ISNP) from 2010 to 2012 and has been the reviewing Chairman of the ISNP since 2015. He was member of the Insurance Regulatory Committee at the Institute of International Finance from 2012 to 2015. He is a Board member of the Mexican Association of Surety Companies (AMIG) and is also member of the Board of Edega Latin America S. A. de C.V., and of Alternative Insurance Company, a leader in the Haitian insurance market. He is also member of the board of trustees of the Association of Insurers and Reinsurers of Developing Countries (IARDC). He was member of the Board of the Mexican Association of Insurance Institutions (AMIS) since 1998 until 2021 and joined the Executive Committee of AMIS in 2015. He served as Chairman from May 2017 until May 2020 and in this role, he held the chair of the Insurance sector in the Private Investment Board (CCE); the Joint Committee for National Security; and the chair of Vice President of the northern region at the Inter American Federation of Insurance Enterprises (FIDES). He remains a member of the Executive Committee of the association. In the mid-nineties, he collaborated with the University of Arizona at the Mexican American Studies and Research Center (MASRC) as a visiting research specialist, where he conducted studies in sociological jurisprudence on Mexican migration to the United States. Today he is a member of the Advisory Council of the Bi-national Migration Institute at MASRC and is Public Policy director for the Patronato Pro-Educación Mexicano where he is also a member of the Board of Trustees. He is member of President’s Leadership Council of the of Stevens Institute of Technology, and of Fondo Arte Contemporáneo AC – Board of the University Museum of Contemporary Art (MUAC @ National Autonomous University of Mexico UNAM) . He has published and collaborated in publications on Insurance, Risk Management and Immigration on which he has also lectured at different conference cycles and conventions. Furthermore, he holds Sixth Dan in Aikido, degree awarded by the Aikikai Foundation in Japan. He also obtained the rank of First Dan in Karate Do and Second Dan in Iaido. He is an authorized instructor in Aikido and Iaido Muso Shinden Ryu.

Hermes O. Gonzalez-Bello
Hermes Gonzalez-Bello is Managing Director, Private Equity, at Brookfield Asset Management, a leading global alternative asset manager with over US$600 billion of assets under management across real estate, infrastructure, private equity, and credit. In this role, he is responsible for business operations and management of portfolio companies, including his participation at the Board of Directors of Clarios, a global energy storage solutions company. Mr. Gonzalez-Bello previously served as the President of HACH in Loveland, Colorado. Since its founding in 1947, HACH, a global leader offering a comprehensive set of products, chemistries, services and software in Drinking, Waste and Industrial Water applications, has been committed to helping its customers find innovative solutions to manage their water more efficiently and accurately. HACH's operational and commercial footprint is global in nature with over 5,600 associates worldwide and it is an operating company of Danaher Corporation (DHR). Prior to coming back to HACH, Mr. Gonzalez-Bello held the position of President, PALL Industrial, headquartered in Port Washington, New York. PALL is a recognized global leader in Filtration, Separation and Purification technologies. The industrial group of companies is made up of the Fluid Technologies & Asset Protection (FTAP), Micro Electronics and Aerospace Business Units. The group employs over 3,000 associates with manufacturing locations in the U.S., Mexico, UK, Germany, China and Japan and it is part of the larger PALL organization, an operating company of DHR. Prior to joining PALL Industrial, Mr. Gonzalez-Bello held various positions of increasing responsibility at DHR's Water Platform, as President of Aquafine Corporation, President of HACH Environmental and Vice President and General Manager of Danaher Water Quality Group, Latin America. These businesses play a critical role in the measurement of important water quality parameters, disinfection of water and hydrological and meteorological variables, critical to the health and safety of our planet. Earlier in his career, Mr. Gonzalez-Bello spent 15 years at Emerson in the Process Management and Instrumentation groups, mainly focused in sales and commercial management of Liquid and Gas Analytical Instrumentation as well as leading the Emerson Flow Group in Latin America, with companies such as Micro Motion, Rosemount Flow and Daniel Measurement & Control under his management responsibility. Mr. Gonzalez-Bello is a present and past member of various company and industry associations and boards such as founding member of Danaher's Diversity & Inclusion Council, Executive Sponsor of Danaher's LatinX Associates Resource Group, Danaher's Latin America Board, the U.S. Department of Commerce Environmental Technologies Trade Advisory Committee (ETTAC) and the Stevens Institute of Technology President's Leadership Council. Mr. Gonzalez-Bello holds a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Management (BE '89) and a Master of Science Degree, Management Planning (MS '95) from Stevens. During his time at Stevens, he served as Treasurer, Vice President and President of the Latin American Association, Founder and President of the National Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and Founder and President of Lambda Theta Phi fraternity.
Sean Hanlon is the CEO of Hanlon Investment Management ("Hanlon"), an asset management, wealth management, services and financial technology company he founded in 1999. Hanlon provides a fully integrated managed accounts program and wealth management platform for advisors, family offices, broker/dealers, banks and institutions, along with the over 100,000 clients they serve. Mr. Hanlon earned a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in 1980 and worked in engineering for three years post-graduation. He began his career in wealth management with Merrill Lynch, was recruited to Paine Webber as the nucleus for a new office, and then formed Hanlon. Mr. Hanlon earned the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation in 1997. He has been a member of the Stevens Institute of Technology Board of Trustees since 2010, has served as Chairman of the Investment Committee, currently is Chairman of the Finance Committee and is a Co-Chair of The Power of Stevens Campaign. Married to Cathy in 1990, they reside in Marmora, NJ and North Palm Beach, FL, have two successful adult children, John and Erin, and keep numerous charitable causes in their giving, especially Stevens and the Hanlon Financial Systems Center located in the School of Business at Stevens.
Elaine Henry, Ph.D., CFA, is a Professor at the School of Business at Stevens. She obtained her Ph.D. from Rutgers University and her MBA with high distinction from the Harvard Business School where she was named a Baker Scholar. Dr. Henry’s research using computational linguistics to analyze financial narrative has been published in various journals including The Accounting Review, European Accounting Review, and Journal of Business Ethics. Her work in the areas of related party transactions and international financial reporting has been published in various journals including Accounting Horizons, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, and Review of Accounting Studies. Dr. Henry served as project team leader for a PCAOB research synthesis project on related party transactions and recently completed work for the Informing the IASB Standard Setting Process IAAER – KPMG Research Program. At Stevens, Dr. Henry has served as a faculty representative on the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees, a member of the Institute’s Academic Operations and Affairs Committee and Strategic Planning Committee, a member of numerous School of Business committees (Nominating; Promotion and Tenure; Ethics; Research; Undergraduate Curriculum; Strategic Planning), chair of six School of Business search committees, co-chair of the Accounting & Analytics undergraduate major task force, and Faculty Ambassador for the Accounting & Analytics undergraduate major. Dr. Henry has been a CFA charterholder and a member of CFA Institute since 2005. She serves as the Principal Contact for the CFA University Affiliation at Stevens.She is also actively involved with the American Accounting Association where she previously served as President of the International Accounting Section and was recently re-elected to the section’s Advisory Board. Industry experience gained prior to seeking her doctorate degree includes corporate finance at Lehman Brothers, consulting at McKinsey & Company, and corporate banking at Citibank.
Joelle M. Hinds
Joelle Hinds is a Financial Advisor with Benchmark Income Group™, a practice consisting of wealth managers, financial advisors, and financial professionals who believe that "capital is freedom" located in Dallas, Texas. Ms. Hinds spent the first 20 years of her career focusing on management consulting, technology implementation, and business ownership. She holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™ (CFP®) and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA®) designations, and focuses on working with clients through the financial aspects of life events. Ms. Hinds graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Engineering Management and is currently serving on the Board as an Alumni Trustee. In addition to her appointment to the Texas Bar Association Grievance Committee, she holds the Treasurer board positions with Young Men's Service League - Rockwall/Health chapter and Boy Scout Troop 314. She is an active member with the Financial Planning Association DFW and the Collaborative Divorce Texas professional organizations.
Emily R. Kovelesky
Emily Rose Kovelesky is a Stevens young alumna with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. During her five years at Stevens in the cooperative education program, Emily strove to create inclusive and welcoming spaces on campus through her work with the Lore-El Center for Women's Leadership and in her roles as the President of the Society of Women Engineers and Senior Week Committee Chair. She currently is working as a Dynamics Engineer at Collins Aerospace in Rockford, Illinois. She is excited to continue her passion of cultivating an enriching college experience for students and to be a part of planning Stevens' bright future as a member of the Board of Trustees.
A. Michael Lipper
A. Michael Lipper is the founder and president of Lipper Advisory Services, Inc., an SEC registered investment advisor providing counsel and management of accounts investing in mutual funds, and separate accounts with current assets in excess of $2 billion. He is also the managing member of LSF Partners, LP, a private financial services fund. Mr. Lipper has been an investor in equities for 50 years, and an analyst of funds for over 40 years. Many of the large investment organizations of the world have consulted with him on various investment issues. He has been a regular source of comment to the global press. He is the author of Money Wise (2008) and he maintains a weekly blog: www.mikelipper.blogspot.com. In 1973, Mr. Lipper founded Lipper Analytical Services, Inc., an investment firm dedicated to the analysis of funds and brokerage firms. In 1998 he sold the operating assets of the firm to Reuters Group, PLC. Reuters has transformed the firm into what is now known as Lipper Inc. Mr. Lipper has been active in various industry associations. He is currently Chairman of the INTERNATIONAL STOCK EXCHANGE EXECUTIVES EMERITI, Inc. Previous Boards include: The New York Society of Security Analysts (President), Museum of American Finance and The Geraldine Dodge Foundation. He is a Past Chairman of the Specialty Firms Advisory Committee of the New York Stock Exchange. He formerly served as a Trustee of Drew University and Co-chair of its Finance Committee and previously served as chair of the Investment Committee for the YMCA of Greater New York and as a member of their Executive Committee and Board of Directors. He is also a former Trustee and Investment Committee Chairman of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Mr. Lipper's current activity in New Jersey includes serving as Chairman of the Investment Sub-committee and a member of the Financial Oversight Committee of Atlantic Health Systems. Outside New Jersey he serves as a Trustee of the California Institute of Technology and sits on the Investment, Business & Finance and the Audit & Compliance Committees. He currently serves on Columbia University Medical Center's Board of Advisors. After graduating from Columbia College in 1957, Mr. Lipper joined the U.S. Marine Corps from the NROTC program. In 1960, he left active duty as a Communications Officer/Combat Cargo Officer to embark on his professional career as a securities analyst.
Mo Mansouri is a Professor and Director for Graduate Studies as well as Director for Systems Engineering Programs and Socio-technical Systems Program at the School of Systems and Enterprises at Stevens Institute of Technology. He is also serving as a Visiting Professor of the Department of Science and Industry Systems at the University of North-Eastern Norway. His research focuses on developing computational governance frameworks, applied to creating incentive structures and designing policies for complex networks and infrastructure systems. Dr. Mansouri joined Stevens in July 2008. Prior to joining Stevens, he served several international development organizations and non-profits such as The World Bank and The United Nations as a research fellow and consultant. He is published in many scientific journals and has also co-authored several book chapters on topics related to systems policy and governance. He received his doctoral degree from The George Washington University in Engineering Management and his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Industrial Engineering from University of Tehran and Sharif University of Technology.
Lisa M. Mascolo
Lisa M. Mascolo is a proven C-Suite leader across IT, strategy, business development, change management, and operations with specific focus in the government sector. She currently serves as the CEO of GCOM + ONCORE as the two companies come together to serve public sector clients. Ms. Mascolo was a founding partner of Accenture, and was a key leader both when the organization was a private professional services firm and a Fortune 500 public company. Lisa is the Founder & CEO of Listen Learn Lead, LLC a small business focused on leadership development and executive coaching. Her philosophy of doing good while doing well is resonate in the many hours she has committed to philanthropy. Ms. Mascolo is a recognized thought leader whose participation on industry panels, news outlets and public appearances drives positive market visibility. She is a trustee of the Stevens Institute of Technology and chairs the Alumni & Development committee of the Stevens Board. She is a director of the MedStar Washington DC Hospital Center and serves as the Chair of the Governance committee. She serves as a trustee of EWAAB, a non-profit focused on the professional development of women and people who identify as non-binary. Lisa is an elected director of the Kiawah Island Community Association and serves as its Treasurer. Lisa is a proud graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology. Thomas J. Nathanson
Thomas Nathanson graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Stevens. He joined Union Carbide Corporation in their Home and Automative Division, producing many market-leading products such as GLAD and GLADLOCK Plastic Bags and Wrap and PRESTONE Antifreeze. While progressing through the company and running various departments and plants, the Division was spun off and became First Brands Corporation. During Mr. Nathanson's tenure at First Brands, the company went public and grew to become a $1.5 billion Fortune 500 consumer products company. Mr. Nathanson rose to be Corporate Executive Officer and Vice President of Operations and Technology. In his position, he reported to the Chairman/CEO and led the 2,200-employee operations and technology organization. Mr. Nathanson later went to work for Hartz Mountain Corporation, a $400 million family-owned consumer products manufacturer with four domestic and three international facilities producing over 2,000 SKUs of pet products. He was a Corporate Officer and Vice President of Manufacturing, the top executive for the 1,800 employee operations and technology organization. Following the sale of Hartz, Mr. Nathanson worked for two portfolio companies of Private Equity Groups, becoming President of a Nutraceuticals Company. In 2005, Mr. Nathanson was recruited to American Capital, LTD, a publicly-traded private equity firm and global asset manager with $22 billion of assets under management and over $100 billion of total assets under management. Mr. Nathanson was a Managing Director in the Operations Group, managing a team of 13 operating professionals responsible for increasing the value of a portfolio of up to 20 companies at any one time. Mr. Nathanson sat on as many as 10 boards at any one time and was chairman of up to six at a time. As a result of the sale of American Capital to Ares Capital, Mr. Nathanson left the company and is currently the CEO and sole owner of Summit Plastics Corp., a $35 million custom manufacturer of industrial film and bags in Summit, Mississippi.
Samuel P. Reckford
Samuel P. Reckford spent most of his career at Bear Stearns & Co., starting as an operations trainee and rising through the ranks to Senior Managing Director in Global Risk Management, where he was responsible for designing and building the firm’s global credit risk management system. After Bear’s 2008 demise, he spent three years as a Managing Director in Corporate Risk Management at its successor, JP Morgan Chase, before leaving banking to become the CFO of Hugo Neu Corporation, a privately-owned business with interests in real-estate, recycling and financial investments. After an extended sabbatical to focus on his personal interests and volunteer activities, Mr. Reckford recently joined the Episcopal Diocese of Newark as CFO. He served as President of the Board of Trustees of The Hudson School (Hoboken, NJ) for 18 years, as Senior Warden and many other roles at Christ Church in Short Hills (NJ), and continues to serve as the VP of Finance for the Sigma Phi Epsilon Alumni and Volunteer Corporation at Dartmouth College, where he received his BA in Government. While not an alumnus, Mr. Reckford has a special interest in Stevens Institute, since it was founded by his third great-grandparents, Edwin and Martha Stevens.
Virginia P. Ruesterholz
Virginia P. Ruesterholz is a Trustee and former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Stevens Institute of Technology. She is a former executive vice president and president of Verizon Services Operations, a global, shared-services business group that operates Verizon’s wireline network as well as the finance operations, real estate, and supply chain services that support all Verizon companies. Dr. Ruesterholz also served as president of Verizon Telecom, where she was responsible for sales, customer service, operations, and IT for the consumer, general business, and domestic wholesale markets. Under her leadership, Verizon began rolling out the most comprehensive, high-speed fiber-optic technology in the country, providing customers with advanced and innovative broadband experiences. Dr. Ruesterholz joined New York Telephone as a manager in 1984, and served in positions of increasing responsibility in operations, sales, and customer service. After the Bell Atlantic/GTE merger, she was named senior vice president of wholesale markets and led efforts for approval to enter the long-distance market. She is a recipient of the Crain’s New York Business prestigious 40 Under 40 award and the New York Women’s Agenda inaugural Rising Star Award. She also serves on the Boards of The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc., Frontier Communications and Bed Bath & Beyond. Dr. Ruesterholz holds a degree in chemical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and an M.S. in telecommunications management from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. She is also the recipient of an honorary doctorate from Stevens.
John A. Schepisi
John A. Schepisi is a Trustee and Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Stevens Institute of Technology. He is the founder and president of the law firm of Schepisi & McLaughlin, PA. His clients include CNBC, Fiat Chrysler of America (FCA), J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, Inc., Holy Name Medical Center, ConnectOne Bank, Euro American Brands, Normandy Real Estate Partners, Tag Sylvan Corporate Center, Katz's Delicatessen, and the Ice House. Mr. Schepisi's practice focuses primarily on litigation, real estate development, and land use issues. He is admitted to the bars of New Jersey and New York and is a member of the American, New Jersey, and Bergen County Bar Associations, as well as the American Association for Justice. Mr. Schepisi is a former president of the Bergen County Bar Association. He formerly served on the Board of Governors of Hackensack University Medical Center and the Board of Trustees of Englewood Hospital, and on the boards of several public companies, including Bridge View Bank, Interchange Bank, and SunResorts Ltd., NV. He is a former chairman of the Bergen County Republican Organization and the Board of Directors of the Mullet Bay Apartments Association. Mr. Schepisi has also served as attorney for many municipalities throughout the state. He holds a J.D. from St. John's University School of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review, and a B.E. from Stevens Institute of Technology. Mr. Schepisi is a recipient of the Stevens Outstanding Contribution Award. In addition, Mr. Schepisi has been honored as a Leader in the Legal Community by the Gold Coast Chamber of Commerce.
Charles H. Shotmeyer
Chuck Shotmeyer is the President of Shotmeyer Brothers, Inc., a New Jersey based Family Office with roots dating back to 1925 and primarily focused on energy and real estate. Mr. Shotmeyer’s professional experience is operational and spans multiple industries: Real Estate, Energy, Healthcare and Banking. His educational background focused on finance, accounting, and entrepreneurial studies. Areas of expertise include financial management, feasibility analysis, budgeting, strategic analysis and transaction structuring. Mr. Shotmeyer is active in leadership roles of several civic, private and not-for-profit organizations and is an avid outdoorsman.
Louis A. Steinberg
Lou Steinberg - Founder and a Managing Partner at CTM Insights, has been at the leading edge of network security and technology innovation throughout his career. CTM is a research lab and incubator/build studio that invests in solving some of the hardest problems in cyber security and then launches companies to bring those solutions to market. Prior to CTM, Mr. Steinberg served for 6 years as the CTO of TD Ameritrade where he was responsible for technology innovation, platform architecture, engineering, operations, risk management and cyber security. Prior to joining TD Ameritrade, Mr. Steinberg founded and was the CEO of several start-ups, including Rev2 (operational risk management software), Cranite Systems (cyber security), and NetOps (data analytics and fault prediction). He also spent several years as CTO of Symbol Technologies (now Motorola), driving a company-wide solutions strategy while also serving as the General Manager of its Software Division. Mr. Steinberg previously served as an entrepreneur-in-residence at Warburg Pincus and as a strategy advisor to senior management at companies including Comcast, Citigroup and Fidelity. He was the SVP of Marketing and Market Development at Micromuse (now IBM), a network management and analytics company that he joined through the acquisition of NetOps. Additionally, Mr. Steinberg spent over a decade at IBM in various technical and management roles - notably contributing to router development for NSFNet, a second-generation Internet backbone. He has served on various IETF Working Groups related to network management, including SNMP-1, MIB-1, Ethernet MIB, RMON-1 and chaired a Working Group on Alert Management. Mr. Steinberg is the author of "Troubleshooting with SNMP and Understanding MIBs" (McGraw-Hill, 2000), as well as numerous articles on technology and innovation. He holds a bachelor's degree in engineering and a master's degree in computer science, both from the Stevens Institute of Technology, and is an active member of the Board of the Stevens Venture Center. Mr. Steinberg has served on numerous private company boards and currently serves as Board Chairman of The Authoriti Network and ShardSecure, as a member of the Technology Advisory Committee to the Board of the MITRE Corporation, and on the CXO Advisory Council to the Digital Value Institute. He has 7 patents issued or pending in the areas of cyber security, resiliency and analytics.
J. Scott Swensen
J. Scott Swensen '74 was the chairman of Conduit Capital Partners, having formed the company in 2003. Since graduating from Stevens Institute of Technology, he amassed a long career in private equity investing and global finance and most specifically, spent 15 years as lead investment manager of the Latin Power Funds, an investment portfolio that focused on energy and infrastructure in Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean. In 1993, Mr. Swensen joined Scudder, Stevens & Clark as lead investment manager for Latin Power I, the first institutional-sized private equity fund focused exclusively on Latin America. In 1998, he was made head of Scudder's Special Investment Group that included $5 billion invested in private equity, private debt, closed-end funds, and hedge funds. When Deutsche Bank AG acquired Scudder in 2002, he joined DB Capital Partners, the private equity arm of Deutsche Bank with €10 billion under management. In 2003, Deutsche Bank decided not to sponsor new private equity funds prompting Mr. Swensen and the Latin Power team to form Conduit Capital Partners. They spun out and raised Latin Power III. The three Latin Power Funds - Latin Power I, II and III - totaled $650 million in commitments and all of them had among the highest internal rates of return in private equity for their respective vintage years. As Latin Power III has now sold its remaining portfolio, Mr. Swensen has started a consulting business to help investors make investments in the energy sector in Latin America. Mr. Swensen is now and has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Stevens since 2014. He was chairman and chief executive of the Latin American Venture Capital and Private Equity Foundation and a member of the Board of the Latin American Venture Capital Association. He has served on the boards of many portfolio companies in his 23 years as a private equity investor. Mr. Swensen holds a bachelor of engineering degree in mechanical engineering with high honors from Stevens and an MBA (ABD) degree from New York University. In 2011, he received the Stevens Honor Award for his business achievements.
Mehrab Syed is a recent graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology, holding a B.E. in Software Engineering with highest honors and a graduate certificate in Software Engineering. Throughout his undergraduate journey, Mehrab actively engaged in leadership roles and extracurricular activities. As a Resident Assistant, he provided valuable guidance and support to first-year students, addressing their needs and concerns. Mehrab also served as the Vice President of Programming at Sigma Phi Epsilon NJA Fraternity, where he prioritized building a strong sense of community through well-organized events and workshops. Additionally, he played an active role as the Spirit Chair of the Gear and Triangle Honor Society, fostering increased campus involvement. Mehrab's commitment to education extended to his roles as a Course Assistant for a core Software Engineering course and as a Peer Leader.
In his professional experience, Mehrab is motivated by his passion for utilizing data to create meaningful insights, and currently works as a Data Scientist at the NYC Department of Transportation.
Hailey M. Tanner
Hailey Tanner is a recent graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology with a B.E. in Chemical Engineering and minor in Biochemical Engineering. She is currently serving the Board as an Alumni Trustee. In the past, Ms. Tanner has been a Quality Operations intern at Merck & Co., Inc., and partook in multiple research experiences during her time at Stevens. She studied the behavior of grafted magnetic nanoparticles and thermal stiffening in Pinar Akcora's lab, as well as neurodegenerative disease pathologies in Johannes Weickenmeier's soft matter mechanics lab. Some of her extracurricular involvements included serving as the Peer Leader Coordinator for the Peer Leader program on campus and as Vice President of Student Interests ("VPSI") for the Student Government Association. As Peer Leader Coordinator, Ms. Tanner successfully led 57 peer leaders through a week's worth of team-bonding activities and training, as well as organized and planned new-student orientation. As VPSI, she oversaw over 114 student organizations and assisted many new organizations to become established on campus. Ms. Tanner also assisted many religious leaders on campus in creating a proposal for the new Quiet Space, which will serve as a designated area for prayer and meditation for students. She was also an Academic Support Center tutor during her first two years at Stevens, a co-chair of the Senior Week Committee, and a member of the Commencement Committee. Other organizations and societies Ms. Tanner belonged to during her years at Stevens include Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society, Omega Chi Epsilon Chemical Engineering Honor Society, Gear & Triangle Leadership Honor Society, Women's Club Soccer, and RedShift Creative Publication. Through her many involvements and impact on campus, Ms. Tanner received the Rising Leader of the Year Award in 2019, the Student Leader of the Year Award in 2020, and the Podolsky Award in 2021. Ms. Tanner has recently been accepted to pursue her PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering at Princeton University, and will continue her research journey with the goal to find unique engineering solutions to the world's most challenging medical and biological issues.

As an experienced board member and CEO advisor, he offers valuable insights on executive leadership, corporate governance, digital innovation, technology, data privacy and cybersecurity to boards and CEOs of enterprise software and services companies. Paul is a member of the board of directors of Science 37 (NASDAQ:SNCE), a company that accelerates clinical research by enabling universal access to patients and providers, anywhere, underpinned by an end-to-end technology platform and supported by specialized networks to enable trial orchestration. Paul is also a member of the board of directors of QuickBase, a software company held by Vista Equity Partners, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Stevens Institute of Technology, an advisor for Dotmatics, Intelepeer and SafeGuard Cyber. Prior to his current board roles, Paul was the Chief Information Officer of Bristol Myers Squibb (NYSE:BMY), a global $45B+ biopharmaceutical company. In that role, he was an SEC section 16 officer and member of the senior-most executive committee, with accountability for the company’s technology, digital capabilities, cybersecurity and data privacy. Before joining Bristol Myers Squibb, Paul held positions with Kraft General Foods, Hewlett-Packard, and IBM. He has served as a trustee for the Penn Medicine Princeton Healthcare System, a board member for Eden Autism Services, and a member of the President’s Leadership Council at Stevens Institute of Technology. Paul holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in computer science from Stevens Institute of Technology. He has also completed the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School and the Program for Leadership Development at IMD in Switzerland. He mentors aspiring CIOs and has been an active sponsor and guest lecturer for the Society of Information Management.
William W. Destler
William W. Destler, B.S., Ph.D. received his B.S. degree from the Stevens Institute of Technology in 1968 and his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1972. He joined the Electrical Engineering faculty of the University of Maryland in 1973, and is the author of over 200 research publications in the areas of advanced accelerator concepts and high power microwave generation. He is a Life Fellow of the IEEE and a Fellow of the American Physical Society. At the University of Maryland, he held the positions of Professor, Department Chair, Dean of Engineering, Vice President for Research, and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. He assumed the position of President of the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2007, and served in this capacity until 2017. Dr. Destler is also an electric vehicle enthusiast and a collector of antique banjos.
David J. Farber
David J. Farber is a Trustee Emeritus of the Board of Trustees of Stevens Institute of Technology. Dr. Farber is the Co-Director of Keio University Cyber Civilization Research Center and was appointed Keio University Distinguished Professor on May 1, 2018. He was Distinguished Career Professor of Computer Science and Public Policy at the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University with secondary appointments at the Heinz School of Public Policy and the Engineering Public Policy Department. From 2000 to 2001, he served as Chief Technologist for the Federal Communications Commission. Prior to his appointment to the FCC, Dr. Farber served on the U.S. Presidential Advisory Committee on Information Technology. In 2003, he retired from the University of Pennsylvania where he held the Alfred Fitler Moore Chair of Telecommunications with appointments in the Engineering School and the Wharton School. Dr. Farber's background includes positions at Bell Labs, the Rand Corporation, Xerox Data Systems, the University of California at Irvine and the University of Delaware. Dr. Farber is a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery, a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and serves on the Board of Trustees of the Electronic Frontier Foundation. Dr. Farber serves on the Markle Foundation Board and on the National Security Internet2 Research Advisory Board, and has served on the National Research Council and the Advisory Board on Computer Science at the National Science Foundation in addition to numerous industrial advisory boards. He has consulted for major firms in the Information Technology area including Samsung, NTT Docomo, HP, IBM, Intel and Citibank, among others. Dr. Farber was awarded the Sigcomm Award for life-long contributions to communications and Philadelphia's John Scott Award for Contributions to Humanity. He received his M.E. degree and M.S. in Mathematics from Stevens Institute of Technology. He is also the recipient of an honorary doctorate from Stevens.
Emilio A. Fernandez
Emilio A. Fernandez is Vice Chairman of Wabtec Corporation (NYSE: WAB), a global technology supplier of products and services for the railroad industry. Mr. Fernandez started his career as an instrumentation engineer at the Southern Railway Company in 1969. He co-founded Pulse Electronics in 1977, established to produce electronic monitors and control systems for the railroads. Since Wabtec acquired Pulse Electronics in 1995 he has started other technology based companies. Mr. Fernandez also serves or has served on the Board of the Smithsonian Institution Washington Council, the Board of the National Museum of American History, the Foundation for a Creative America, the Hispanic Leadership Council, the Board of Trustees of the George Washington University, as Chairman of the George Washington Medical Center, the Hispanic Business College Fund, the Board of Trustees of the University of Maryland, the Board of Visitors of the James Clark School of Engineering, the Boards of Directors of Sophia Wireless, InHand Electronics, Pulse Medical Instruments, and the advisory Board of Amplifier Partners. He has been awarded numerous patents from the United States Patent and Trademark Office, covering the fields of medical devices, transportation and electronic readers. Mr. Fernandez holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (‘69) from the University of Maryland and a Master’s Degree in Engineering Administration (‘76) from George Washington University.
Richard R. Roscitt
Richard R. Roscitt is a Trustee and Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of Stevens Institute of Technology. He serves as non-executive chairman of Sapien Software, LLC, a leading software-as-a-service provider of global human resources, talent management, and managed human resource solutions. From 2007 to 2010, Mr. Roscitt served as chairman and chief executive officer of SMobile Systems, Inc., a software company focused solely on smartphone and tablet security solutions for the enterprise, service provider, and consumer markets. Prior to joining SMobile, Mr. Roscitt was president and chief operating officer of MCI, leading that company out of its bankruptcy and corporate governance crisis. Prior to his work at MCI, Mr. Roscitt served in a variety of executive roles including president, CEO, and chairman of ADC Telecommunications, Inc.; director of ICT Group, Inc.; director of Tell Me Networks; president of AT&T Business Services; and CEO and president of AT&T Solutions, where he served for a total of 28 years. During that time, he was responsible for the firm's efforts to service the communications needs of the business market through AT&T Solutions, AT&T Data and Internet Services, AT&T Global Network Services, and the Global Sales organization. Mr. Roscitt holds a B.E. from Stevens Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from the Sloan School of Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Ronald E. Salluzzo
Ronald E. Salluzzo is a partner emeritus in the education, non-profit and commercial services practice at Attain, LLC, leading the strategic finance group. Prior to joining Attain, Mr. Salluzzo held a variety of executive positions including chief financial officer of Harris Interactive, chief risk officer for BearingPoint, executive vice president at Bearing Point responsible for the state and local and education practice in North America, and senior partner at KPMG. Mr. Salluzzo is a co-author of the 7th, 6th, and 4th editions and the 2016 Update to the 7th Edition of Strategic Financial Analysis for Higher Education: Identifying, Measuring, & Reporting Financial Risks, and he is a contributor to the 3rd edition. He has spoken and written widely on financial measurement issues affecting higher education. In 2018, he co-authored the publication Bridging the Strategic Gap: Toward Effective Finance Committees. While at KPMG, Mr. Salluzzo was the National Industry Leader for Higher Education. In addition to his membership on the Stevens Institute of Technology Board of Trustees from 2010 - 2020, he is involved in a wide variety of community activities, including memberships on the Board of Managers of the Eastman School of Music (of the University of Rochester), the Board of the St. Ann's Foundation and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Mr. Salluzzo holds a B.B.A. in accounting from St. Bonaventure University and is also a certified public accountant in New York State. Mr. Salluzzo was elected Emeritus Trustee of the Stevens Institute of Technology in December 2020.
Thomas H. Scholl
Thomas H. Scholl is a successful entrepreneur, technology innovator and investor. He has been directly involved in over 50 start-ups in differing roles including founder, chairman, CEO, board member and investor. Experienced in both hardware and software products - especially those created from deep intellectual property - Mr. Scholl currently serves on the boards of a variety of companies. As a venture capitalist for over ten years at Novak Biddle Venture Partners, he played a pivotal role identifying, investing in and mentoring portfolio companies from seed stage investment through successful exit. He sat on the boards of Paratek (acquired by RIM/Blackberry,) Command Information (acquired by Salient Federal Solutions,) Woodwind Communications (acquired by Vina), Vubiquity and Princeton Optronics. In 2011, Mr. Scholl was recognized as the venture capitalist “Friend of the Entrepreneur” by the Washington Business Journal. Prior to joining Novak Biddle, Mr. Scholl co-founded and was chairman of Cognio, a pioneering developer of software radio, cognitive spectrum management and MIMO antenna technology for wireless applications. Cognio was acquired by Cisco in October 2007. Mr. Scholl was also an angel investor in Broadsoft (IPO) and served as a Director of Torrent Networking (acquired by Ericsson), Integrated Telecom (acquired by PMC Sierra), NEC’s eLuminant and Siemen’s Optisphere. In 1990, he founded Telogy Networks, a leader in providing reference designs and embedded software products for world-class customers including Cisco, Motorola, Samsung, NEC, Nortel, Alcatel, Siemens and many others. In 1998, Motorola acquired Telogy’s digital mobile handset design business, and in 1999 Texas Instruments acquired Telogy as the world leader in embedded VOIP ("Voice-Over-Internet Protocol") software – licensing over one million VOIP “sockets.” As Telogy’s CEO, Mr. Scholl was honored as the 1995 Joseph A. Sciulli "Entrepreneur of the Year" by the Maryland High Tech Council. Prior to Telogy, Mr. Scholl was Senior Vice President of Engineering at Hughes Network Systems (now a subsidiary of EchoStar and originally a combination of Digital Communications Corporation and Linkabit). He began his professional career as a systems programmer at the Central Intelligence Agency. Mr. Scholl is a graduate of Purdue University in Philosophy and Literature, and serves as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council of the College of Liberal Arts. He received Purdue's Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2009 and Doctor of Letters degree honoris causa in 2014. Mr. Scholl served as a Trustee at the Stevens Institute of Technology from 2011 - 2020 and was elected Emeritus Trustee in December 2020. He received Stevens' "Friend of Stevens Award" in 2015. In addition, Mr. Scholl is a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Maryland Foundation and past Chairman of the Board of Visitors at the A. James Clark School of Engineering, receiving the Clark School's inaugural Glenn L. Martin Medal in 2014. He was previously a Trustee at Capitol Technology University. Mr. Scholl has six patents relating to software, the Internet, and digital telephone systems, and he is the author of "Packet Switching" in McGraw Hill’s Electronic Communications Handbook. He is a Life member of IEEE and ACM, and he attended the Executive Management (non-degree) program at MIT Sloan School.
Frank J. Semcer, Sr.
Frank J. Semcer, Sr., is Chairman/CEO of The Micro Stamping Corporation (MICRO), a global conglomerate headquartered in Somerset, New Jersey, with divisions in Singapore, Korea, and Florida. Mr. Semcer began his career as product development engineer for Allied Chemical before joining MICRO as Vice President in 1969. In 1977, Mr. Semcer purchased MICRO. Under his leadership the company has grown into an international organization with four divisions dedicated to the medical, aerospace, and electronics industries. In 2010, Mr. Semcer was honored by Stevens Institute of Technology with the Stevens Award for Innovation and Leadership. He is a member of the NJ Tooling and Machining Association, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and the American Society of Quality Control. At Stevens, he has served as a trustee, an executive committee member, and as chairman of the Quality Oversight Committee. He has also served as an advisory board member for Artistic Identification Systems and director of NJM Insurance Group. Mr. Semcer holds a B.E. from Stevens Institute of Technology and an MBA from Seton Hall University.
