Campus Traditions

Stevens takes pride in a strong history and culture of campus traditions.  Each year, students can expect to participate in events and activities that are unique to the Stevens experience.

THE DUCK DANCE

The Duck Dance is a song and dance created by a Stevens alum that brings the duck pride out at events! It is taught to all students at Orientation and is played at many campus events to promote school spirit.

FLOCK PARTY

The Flock Party is a showcase of all of the student organizations that make Stevens such a vibrant community. This event kicks off the fall semester, taking place the last day of New Student Orientation. Sponsored by Office of Undergraduate Student Life, Student Government Association (August)

NEW STUDENT CONVOCATION

This ceremony marks the beginning of the academic year and the first formal assemblage of the entering class, commemorating their inclusion in the Stevens community. All students are formally inducted into the Stevens Honor System at this ceremony. Sponsored by Student Affairs (August)

THE WITTPENN WALK

New students process to New Student Convocation up the Wittpenn Walk, which is lined with cheering students, faculty, and administration. As seniors, students walk down Wittpenn Walk to their Senior Toast on their last day of class, ceremoniously ending their career at Stevens. Sponsored by Student Affairs (August, May)

LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

A biennial gathering focused on building coalitions of support and redefining what leadership means for the future. Hosted by the Lore-El Center, this conference brings together a wide range of voices to explore new visions of leadership that value collaboration, authenticity, and impact. Through engaging workshops, inspiring speakers, and intentional networking, attendees will connect across experiences and leadership styles to strengthen their impact and expand their support systems. Whether you're just beginning your leadership journey or looking to grow in new ways, this space is for you. Open to all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests—because together, we are unstoppable.

QUACK OR TREAT

Students are invited to visit offices throughout campus for a Halloween treat. Sponsored by Student Affairs, Undergraduate Student Life, Student Government Association (October)

WINTER WONDERLAND

Students light the campus with holiday decor and festive activities including hot chocolate, holiday desserts, giveaways, and live music under our spectacular campus tree. Support Stevens Students small businesses at the Duck Market and learn more seasonal and holiday traditions from our cultural and religious organizations at the Winter Village.
