Tech-Powered Social Science
QSS at Stevens—a multi-disciplinary program that culminates in a Bachelor of Science degree—trains students in the quantitative methods that define modern approaches to social science. Equipped with these analytical skills, students will pursue answers to questions about society and human behavior.
The offered concentrations in political science, psychology, and sociology invite students to explore the field that interests them the most. Within their classes, students will gain experience with statistical modeling, causal inference, forecasting, text analytics, social network analyses, and experimental methods.
Careers of Tomorrow
A quantitative skillset adds immense value to a social scientist's career, enabling perspective and knowledge across social, political, and ethical considerations. Future QSS graduates will leave Stevens with an ability to ask meaningful questions, craft useful applications, and propose solutions to the most pressing issues of our time.
Explore Quantitative Social Science at Stevens
The new QSS degree is an evolution of Stevens' previously offered bachelor's degree in social science. Classes are led by faculty known for their next-generation research and thought leadership. Students will explore areas between traditional disciplines
and investigate ideas that connect science, technology, and the arts with the human experience.
The political science concentration prepares students for analytic roles in industry, government, and academia that increasingly require knowledge of statistical analysis, data collection and cleaning.
Students will learn to pose questions, design research, and analyze quantifiable information about social and political problems.
In a world where data science is a quickly growing field, a BS in quantitative social science with a political science concentration prepares students for careers within campaigns, government service, policy and think tank organizations, legal professions, business, and social media.

Sociology provides theories and methods for students to question their position within our social world. How do social institutions affect our life chances, experiences, and attitudes? In contrast, how do our lives and actions affect social constructs?
Quantitative approaches enable sociologists to collect and analyze data on a wide range of social issues, be they big or small, visible or hidden. Analytical tools will help students better understand the mechanisms of social processes, obtain findings that can be generalized to a larger population, and provide policy recommendations.
Students with a BS in quantitative social science with a sociology concentration will be prepared for work in public service and the private sector, including social services and counseling, management, sales, marketing, teaching, research, and more.
