Research
Michael Flannery is an artist, sound designer, and audio engineer currently researching the application of custom speaker arrays for spatial reproduction of symphonic recordings for live opera.
General Information
Michael Flannery joined the Stevens faculty in 2023 and teaches courses in sound recording, sound design, audio post-production, music production, songwriting, and creative collaboration.
Flannery began his professional career in 2001 when he was signed to LAVA/Atlantic Records with his act Little T and One Track Mike. Since then, driven by his passion for sound, he has worked across a wide range of projects and disciplines, collaborating with artists, filmmakers, media companies, and institutions in music, film, and media.
Career highlights include performing alongside major artists in large-capacity stadiums and theaters; sound designing artworks that have been exhibited or included in the permanent collections of leading museums and galleries such as MoMA, LACMA, the Jeu de Paume, MoMI, the New Museum, and others; and writing and producing educational audio content for language learning programs used in schools internationally. He has received multiple awards for his work including the John Lennon Songwriting award and an MPSE Award nomination for his dialogue editing in film.
