General Information

Dr. Garven has experience in academia and industry using modeling and simulation to evaluate cardiovascular device design. Her doctoral research focused on building multiscale fluid dynamics models of the circulation following a congenital heart surgery and she continued using computational techniques during her postdoctoral research to work on the design of a lymphatic organ-on-a-chip device.

She is passionate about engineering education, and pursued pedagogical training for Undergraduate STEM Education as part of her doctoral program. In particular, she enjoys teaching mathematical modeling in biomedical applications.
