Research
I have two active areas of research. The first is in cognitive science and cognitive psychology, with two sustained lines of inquiry: (1) virtual reality (VR) and cognition, and (2) language and reading processes across writing systems. Across these lines of work, I investigate core mechanisms of human cognition using behavioral experimentation, cross-linguistic comparison, and human–computer interaction methods.
My second area of research is the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, where I examine ways to improve teaching and student learning, with particular interest in the effective use of technology, including VR, in higher education.
