Undergraduate Research

Undergraduate Research

Research is an exciting process of investigation and experimentation, leading to the discovery of new knowledge. Stevens undergraduates have numerous opportunities to participate hands-on in leading-edge research. A common thread of creation and discovery is woven into all of our undergraduate programs, helping students build research-and-development careers in academia and industry.

How to Get Involved in Research at Stevens

As an undergraduate student at Stevens, you'll have numerous opportunities to participate in research throughout the academic year and during the summer. Many professors and graduate students welcome undergraduates to assist with their projects, whether for academic credit, on a volunteer basis, or as paid research assistants.

As a research-intensive university, Stevens maintains strong partnerships with leading corporations that offer summer positions in their labs. You'll also receive guidance when applying to federal research labs and other competitive summer research programs.

Several academic departments provide courses and seminars that allow you to earn academic credit while conducting research. Requirements and credit hours vary by department, so we encourage you to consult your faculty advisor and department for details on opportunities in your field.

Faculty members frequently invite motivated students to join their research teams. If you are interested in on-campus research, start by reviewing available opportunities and reaching out directly to the primary research advisor. When contacting faculty, introduce yourself clearly, explain your research interests, and consider including your resume or CV to strengthen your application.
