Hoboken, also known as the "Mile Square City" offers the unique blend of small town vibe with big city energy - earning it the alternate, informal nickname of "New York's 6th Borough." You'll find restaurants, bars, and unique shops up and down Washington Street; a quick walk over to the Waterfront provides you with one of, if not the most stunning panoramic view of Manhattan.
Transportation
Walking & Bicycles
Hoboken is an incredibly bike-friendly, walkable city! The Citi Bike system is available throughout Hoboken and Jersey City and you'll frequently see people zipping around. Stevens received an Honorable Mention in 2022 from the League of American Bicyclists for being a Bicycle Friendly University and has several bike racks on campus for overnight storage.
Please note that under our housing policies bikes, scooters, or other personal transportation, (both electric and non electric) are not permitted to be brought into Stevens housing, as they are a fire / trip hazard.
Public Transportation
Hoboken Terminal is a quick walk downtown from Stevens - from there, a quick ferry or subway ride can put you in Midtown Manhattan or the Financial District. You can be in the middle of it all in Times Square, a theater on Broadway, or on Wall Street in 20 minutes or less!
There's plenty on our side of the Hudson as well. A quick trip on the light rail can take you to nearby Liberty State Park. A subway ride can take you into the heart of nearby Jersey City or Newark. Feeling more adventurous? Commuter rail service is available to several Northern New Jersey communities and Upstate New York, and connecting service can take you down the Jersey Shore!

Driving & Parking
Interns may purchase a parking pass that will last the duration of the summer ($275). We generally do not recommend owning a car in Hoboken due to the multitude of public transit available. Parking is extremely limited off campus: street parking is restricted by time or permits. There are off-campus garages nearby, should you have visitors, etc.
