The O-1 classification allows individuals with “an extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts education, business or athletics” to work temporarily in the United States. Extraordinary ability is defined as a level of expertise that is indicative of an individual who is in the top of their field of endeavor. The candidate must demonstrate extraordinary ability by providing evidence of sustained national or international acclaim. An initial application may be made for a period of up to 3 years. The O-1 visa status may be extended in yearly increments after the initial period.
The O-1 application is employer specific and all correspondence for the O-1 application process must be routed through the ISSS for individuals who will be working at Stevens.
