Stevens’ Admitted Class of 2029 Impresses with Academics, Extracurriculars

From academic superstars to innovative entrepreneurs, the newest Ducks showcase remarkable talent across diverse fields as applications surge for early consideration

They are National Merit Semifinalists and AP Scholars, valedictorians and winners of national academic competitions; they have patented inventions, conducted research at NASA and Yale and designed algorithms to address climate issues; they are Eagle Scouts and Girl Scout Gold Awardees, award-winning filmmakers and Team USA athletes in basketball, volleyball, lacrosse and dance. They are the admitted Stevens’ Class of 2029.

“Our admitted class this year showcases remarkable academic excellence and extraordinary achievements in areas from the arts to athletics, community leadership to research and innovation,” says Vice President for Enrollment Management Cindy Chin. “We could not be more excited to welcome this exceptional cohort of students — who already embody the Stevens principle of ‘excellence in all we do’ — into our community.”

This year’s application cycle showed a 28% increase in applications for early consideration — early decision 1 and 2 and early action — as well as a 5% increase in both international applicants and applications to the School of Business. This pool of applicants yielded an admitted class that includes:

  • Students representing 49 states, 3 U.S. territories and 75 countries

  • Nearly 150 valedictorians

  • Nearly 150 class presidents

  • 17% who identify as first-generation college students

  • Dozens who launched tech startups and mobile apps

  • Many who founded nonprofits that support causes like refugee relief, autism awareness, food waste reduction and financial literacy

  • Many who hold the Seal of Biliteracy in languages including Spanish, Italian, Korean and Chinese, among others

  • Several who completed dual enrollment or graduated high school with an associate’s degree

“In addition to the impressive academic makeup, this year’s admitted class includes students that have taken exciting initiatives outside the classroom,” says Dean of Undergraduate Admissions and Pre-College Programs April Chang.” Whether through artistic endeavors — like fashion designing or founding theater companies — or entrepreneurship — like developing platforms to support social initiatives or winning the Blue Ocean Entrepreneurship Competition — the variety of extracurricular experiences contribute to making this one of the most impressive admitted classes in Stevens history.”

New Student Orientation for the Class of 2029 will be Aug. 24-29. For more information on upcoming dates and deadline, visit the Important Dates page.
