Abhishek Panchal became the inaugural recipient of the David Belanger Fellowship. This award will be given annually to a first-year business intelligence and analytics graduate student, who is judged by a committee of faculty and BI&A Industry Advisory Board members to be most likely to have a successful career in Big Data/AI. Abhishek earned his Bachelor of Technology in Electronics & Telecommunication from the University of Mumbai in October 2020 and worked as a data engineer for Accenture in India before enrolling at Stevens.
David G. Belanger was a beloved and respected Stevens School of Business faculty member who passed away in 2022. A pioneering authority on Big Data and data governance, David joined Stevens in 2012 as a senior research fellow. He taught courses in the BI&A graduate program and led major research efforts. David was an internationally known authority on Big Data and data governance. During his 30 years at AT&T Bell Labs, David contributed to advances that made the world of computing and Big Data that we know today possible.
The award was presented at a luncheon by David Belanger’s daughter, Erin Blackwell, and his sister, Nora Belanger
