Attention: High school sophomores and juniors
Are you interested in the stock market?
The School of Business at Stevens Institute of Technology invites you to participate in Stevens Trading Day 2023, a virtual and live trading competition.
This is a free* program, open to domestic and international students who are in their sophomore or junior year of high school.
Important Dates and Key Highlights
Friday, January 27 - Game Release Day
The Trading Game that will be used for the competition will be released, so check your email for the URL and password to enter the game. (**The game "Trading Day Sample 1" listed in the Advance Packet is for demonstration purposes only.)
Wednesday, February 1 - Virtual Trading Competition begins
• Do not trade before Wednesday, February 1.
• Performance will be tracked starting from the market open on February 1 to the market close on February 28.
**The US market opens at 9:30 am and closes at 4 pm EST.
• All students need to be easily identified in the game or they are not eligible to be included in the live event on Friday, March 31. Please provide your MarketWatch profile name here.
• Only the top 25 high school sophomores and juniors that are in the virtual competition will be invited to our campus on March 31. In addition to the trading competition, the other event programming is geared towards students that have yet to apply to college, and this competition is something that students can include on the Common Application when applying to colleges.
Thursday, February 9 - Meet the SMIF
Meet the members of the SMIF, the Student Managed Investment Fund, who are trading a portion of our university's endowment fund. Thursday, Feb 9 at 4pm EST.

Tuesday, February 21 - Crypto & FTX Discussion

Program
From February 1, students will create a mock portfolio using the Dow Jones MarketWatch Virtual Stock Exchange, an easy-to-use trading simulator which provides real time market data, news, and historical pricing information on indexes, listed and OTC securities.
Each student started with $1,000,000 in play money.
At the end of February, 25 students with the best-performing portfolios will be invited to the Stevens campus.
Will you be in the top 25?
In the second phase of the Stevens Trading Day competition, 25 students with the top performing portfolios will be invited to our campus in Hoboken, NJ in April for an exciting live trading event in our state-of-the-art Hanlon Financial Systems Center. The day will include:
Bloomberg 101 - Introductory workshop on the key functions of the Bloomberg terminal
Live trading event - Compete against the best of the best high school traders for prizes
Market insight discussion - led by Professor George Calhoun, contributing writer to Forbes
Campus tour and lunch
