25 Under 25 Honoree Emma Eguia
From Peru to Hoboken, Emma Eguia’s path to the Stevens School of Business has been anything but linear. Originally drawn to medicine by a desire to serve others, Eguia pursued a Biology degree at Stevens with concentrations in Medical Humanities and Science, Technology and Society, graduating with a 3.8 GPA and high honors. Along the way, a Healthcare Leadership and Management Certificate introduced her to the managerial dimensions of care, inspiring her to develop two original healthcare initiatives: The New American Healthcare Trust, a nonprofit model centered on culturally responsive care, and Alma Sana, a pediatric framework designed to improve health outcomes for Hispanic immigrant children. It also led her into the world of business.
Now completing an accelerated MBA with a concentration in project management, she has carried that same purpose-driven energy into her professional life. As a Clinical Assistant and Coordinator at Bear Brook Pediatric Dentistry, she worked on both sides of healthcare delivery, assisting with clinical procedures while managing administrative operations, and brought those real-world observations directly into her Operations Management coursework.
A four-year member of the Stevens Women's Tennis Team and contributor to four consecutive MAC Championship titles, she mentored younger teammates the same way upperclassmen once steadied her. Today, she extends that instinct as a Teaching Assistant for multiple School of Business courses and as a tennis coach for children ages five to 10.
On Tuesdays and Fridays, she volunteers at the Hoboken Community Center, translating between English and Spanish for families navigating systemic barriers to food, hygiene and stability, and listening to the stories that continue to shape her vision for a more equitable healthcare system.
