Assistantships and Fellowships

Stevens offers funding to select graduate students in the form of teaching assistantships, research assistantships and fellowships. Limited in number, these highly competitive opportunities are awarded to exceptional candidates based on merit.

Research and Teaching

The Department of Mathematical Sciences is a leader in the field of algebraic cryptography and is home to the internationally recognized Algebra and Cryptology Center, a multidisciplinary initiative between the Departments of Mathematics and Computer Science dedicated to applying new computational algebra techniques to practical problems in cryptography and cryptanalysis.

In our department, you'll have the opportunity to explore our research strengths in the areas of group theory, stochastic modeling, mathematical models of risk, optimization and control under uncertainty and risk, statistical learning, numerical analysis, partial differential equations (PDEs) and reliability theory. Our faculty members are supported by major government funding agencies and also collaborate with the Stevens Institute for Artificial Intelligence, the Center for Research toward Advancing Financial Technologies and the Center for Quantum Science and Engineering.
