Research

Dr. Yassine's research is based on using Mathematical Modeling (i.e. Optimization, Simulation, and Complex Networks) and Machine Learning (i.e., Regression, Classification, Clustering, Dimensionality Reduction, Topic Modelling (NLP)) techniques (i.e., model-based and data-driven approaches) to:

1. Create systematic methods and associated computer tools to support the design, analysis and improvement of Product Innovation and Development Processes. Research agenda includes managing overlapping & iteration of innovation activities, system decomposition & integration, resource allocation, design process dynamics (i.e. convergence), and product evolution. Application areas are in distributed, collaborative, and crowd-sourced product development projects.

2. Enhance traditional inventory management and production planning models with sustainable and green concerns. Research agenda includes Reserve Stock Models and Carbon Footprint. Application areas are in management of Strategic Oil Reserves (Energy), Emergency Vaccine Stockpiles (healthcare), and Joint Replenishment and Demand Substitution Models (retail).

3. Formulate and solve complex and contemporary Engineering Management problems. Research agenda includes managing Hydrocarbon Assets and Water-Energy-Food Nexus. Application areas are in Water Resources and Energy Management.
