Expanding Access to STEM for Community College Transfers
Stevens Institute of Technology has been awarded a prestigious grant from the American Talent Initiative (ATI), with support from Bloomberg Philanthropies, to launch the Stevens Transfer Student Success Initiative (STSSI). This innovative program aims to increase the enrollment of community college students from underserved communities by building partnerships with community colleges and offering comprehensive support and pathways for students pursuing STEM degrees. The grant reinforces Stevens’ commitment to opportunity and student success in STEM fields.
As one of just 16 institutions nationwide recognized by ATI for their efforts, Stevens will use the grant support to further its mission of expanding access and fostering an inclusive academic environment.

The STSSI is a multi-pronged program developed to operationalize, and sustain an enhanced transfer enrollment model, which will support the successful enrollment and graduation of additional community college students from underserved communities. Specific goals of the STSSI are:
Develop meaningful partnerships and pathways with select community colleges in New Jersey
Develop robust advising for students from community college enrollment through graduation at Stevens
Develop enhanced social and academic support at Stevens for transfer students
Expand our donor base to include additional scholarships and programming for transfer students, especially those who come from underserved communities.
