Off-Campus Service Opportunities in Hoboken

Lunchtime Ministries 
Lunchtime Ministry (LTM) was started in the 1970’s by the people of St. Matthew Trinity to provide a warm meal, hospitality, and community for our neighbors who are homeless, marginally housed, or just hungry.  
Service Activity from 12:00pm-2:00pm (8th & Hudson St.): Volunteers will assist with cleaning/organizing the facility and other tasks 

Computers 4 People 
Computers For People Inc. was founded in 2019 by then 15-year-old Dylan Zajac in Hoboken, NJ. The non-profit was formed through his vision to create a sustainable solution to the mass pollution of e-waste and the ever-growing digital divide. Computers 4 People has grown to a leading organization tackling the digital divide in the New York City Metropolitan area. 
Service Activity from 12:00pm-3:00pm (51 Newark St. Suite 302): Volunteers will assist with cleaning/organizing computers. Those with more technical skills will assist with installing Windows 10 and simple refurbishments. 

Hoboken Food Pantry 
The Hoboken Community Center Pantry is a community resource for supplemental food, hygiene and pet supplies in Hoboken, NJ as well as surrounding communities. The Pantry supports residents of the Hoboken Community Center Affordable Housing program as well as community members experiencing food insecurity or other hardships. The Pantry is a member agency of the Community Food Bank of NJ.  
Service Activity from 12:00pm-2:00pm (1301 Washington St.): Volunteers will assist staff with various tasks at the facility  

Hoboken Charter School 
The Hoboken Charter School is a K-12 community of learners that seeks to develop the growth of all its members through its commitment to social justice and service-learning through learner-centered practices.  Our mission, size and dedication to providing an inclusive learning community that spans thirteen years of education allow for something different- an individualized journey that leads students to know who they are and how they will change the world. 
Service Activity from 12:00pm-2:00pm (713 Washington St.): Volunteers will assist with organizing their library and walk book donations to the local used bookstore. 

Elysian Charter School 
Elysian Charter School of Hoboken, an innovative K–8, free, public charter school, located in Hoboken, New Jersey. At Elysian, our small size (288 students, 16 students in the class), allows us to focus on the whole child. Children come to us with strengths on which they can learn and grow. Our goal is to educate and inspire children to become curious, lifelong learners (strong in academic preparation), who have an appreciation of the arts, the diversity of all the peoples of the world, and the importance of community. They get all this, plus, hopefully, the self-confidence to pursue their dreams. 
Service Activity from 12:00pm-2:00pm (1460 Garden St): Volunteers will do light cleaning, support students with research and organize games at recess.

Grace Healthcare Services
It is our belief that the delivery of hospice care can be taken to a new level of excellence by those who understand the privilege of what it means to serve the terminally ill. Grace Healthcare Services was founded by a group of hospice professionals who value that opportunity and privilege. We are dedicated to advancing the quality of hospice care in the communities that we serve. Our promise is to utilize the inherent expertise of our staff to educate consumers and serve patients and families with the highest level of dignity and grace.
 
Service Activity in Gateway North, Room 204: Volunteers will make cards to be delivered to hospice care patients. 

Love for our Elders 
Love for Our Elders includes an amazing team and more than 50,000 volunteers across 70 countries working together to fight loneliness with love. Since 2013, we’ve mailed hundreds of thousands of thousands of letters to senior communities, and created a storybook of inspiring seniors. LFOE seeks to facilitate an easy outlet for connecting with older adults who may feel alone, support seniors across socioeconomic and regional backgrounds, fight ageism and promote intergenerational sharing to humanize elders and bridge age barriers.
Service Activity in Gateway South, Room 216: Volunteers will write letters to the elderly whose information is provided. 

Round 2 Resources 
Donation collection begins January 17th and runs through the end of January 
Round 2 Resources is a not-for-profit organization committed to protecting the environment. By accepting all donations and redistributing them back into our community to people & organizations in need, we prevent usable resources from going into a landfill and recycle unusable items.  Being a resource to other organizations and linking them to help each other, R2R Inc can help every class of charitable organization without discrimination.  We are not fighting to champion one cause; we are fighting for the world! 
Service Activity in Gateway North, Room 103: Volunteers can drop off various supplies (women’s clothing and kitchen supplies). Donations will continue to be collected after this event until January 31st on the second floor of the University Center. 

Garden State CDC 
Donation collection begins January 17th and runs through the end of January 
Our Mission is to create healthy neighborhoods through community development initiatives that cultivate the resources of residents, businesses, government and the faith-based community in serving those most vulnerable in our society. 
Service Activity in Gateway North, Room 103: Volunteers can drop off Liquid HE Laundry Detergent, Bath towels, Twin Sheet Sets, and Twin Blankets. Donations will continue to be collected after this event until January 31st on the second floor of the University Center. 

Boys and Girls Club of Hudson County 
Donation collection begins January 17th and runs through the end of January 
For 129 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hudson County has been in the forefront of youth development, working with young people from disadvantaged economic, social and family circumstances. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hudson County has actively sought to enrich the lives of girls and boys whom other youth agencies fail to reach. 
Service Activity in Gateway North, Room 103: Volunteers can drop off new and lightly used books for middle/elementary school students. Donations will continue to be collected after this event until January 31st on the second floor of the University Center.
