Leadership Opportunities for the Graduating Class as Alumni

Stevens offers leadership opportunities for new alumni of each graduating class. Learn more about the Young Alumni Trustee and Class Officer positions that will guide and inspire the dynamic future of our alumni.

Young Alumni Trustee

Each year, the Stevens Board of Trustees selects one graduating student from the undergraduate class to serve a three-year term as a Young Alumni Trustee. Anyone in the Stevens community may nominate a graduating undergraduate student for the Young Alumni Trustee seat. Eligible students may also choose to self-nominate.

The Board of Trustees position is a three-year term that begins in September following graduation. Service as an Alumni Trustee involves participation in all meetings of the Board and membership on at least one committee of the Board. The Board holds approximately three meetings each year and conducts a Strategic Planning Retreat each year in the fall.

Eligible students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, a stellar record of academic and co-curricular achievements, and a record of exemplary behavior.

Students who plan on being employed by Stevens during the three-year term or enrolled as a Stevens student during the three-year term (*please note that students who are concluding their fourth year of the 4+1 program are not eligible*), and students who are related to Board of Trustees members or Stevens administrators are not eligible for this position.

The Dean of Students will notify nominees if they have been selected for an interview. Three nominees will be selected to be interviewed by a committee of the Board of Trustees. The committee will recommend to the full Board of Trustees who should serve.

Class Officer

Each graduating class has alumni representation through the election of Class Officers who will facilitate class engagement and involvement with the Stevens Alumni Association and the university. There are four positions available: President, Vice President, Secretary and Fund Captain. Anyone in the Stevens community may nominate a graduating undergraduate student for any of the Class Leadership positions. Eligible students may also choose to self-nominate.

The positions are for a 5-year term starting immediately after graduation.

Once nominated for a position, each nominee will be contacted by a representative of the Stevens Alumni Association (SAA) in collaboration with the Office of Development and Alumni Engagement, who will explain the details, responsibilities and expectations of the respective position(s). During this time, the nominee will be asked to confirm the nomination.

After the nominees are finalized, an election will be held for all graduating seniors to vote on who will hold the officer positions during the spring semester of their graduation year.
