25 Under 25 Honoree Vedant Vijay Shinde
Vedant Vijay Shinde is a self-described data-driven Duck, whose journey at Stevens has been forged by a single question: how can we use the precision of data to improve the human experience?
An information systems graduate student maintaining a 3.9 GPA and recipient of the Master's Scholarship Award, Shinde spent months on his Industry Capstone Program consulting luxury retailer The Webster to engineer a generative AI system that could navigate an inventory of 25,000 products to provide style advice to clients. By designing an influencer-based weighting system, he helped transform a static product feed into a context-aware personal stylist, built with the end user in mind.
As a Graduate Research Assistant, he processed millions of mobility records to calculate equity metrics, such as the Gini Coefficient, by building ETL pipelines at scale and creating geospatial visualizations to help urban planners see and address systemic gaps in access.
That same orientation toward service shapes how he shows up on campus. As an elected Graduate Tutor for the Financial Decision-Making course, he works to make finance feel accessible rather than intimidating to his peers. Through the graduate yielding program, he personally calls incoming students to help ease the anxieties of starting something new, drawing on his own experience to offer the kind of reassurance he once needed.
