Professor Dibyendu Sarkar Appointed to the Advisory Council of the AASHE

Stevens is committed to promoting sustainability on campus and beyond

Dibyendu Sarkar, professor of environmental engineering and founding director of the sustainability management program in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Ocean Engineering, was appointed to the Advisory Council of the Association for Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) for a two year term, beginning January 2020.

The organization is the leading association for the advancement of sustainability in higher education and is comprised of over 900 members across 48 of the United States, 1 U.S. territory, 9 Canadian provinces, and 20 countries. The AASHE administers the Sustainability Tracking Assessment and Rating System (STARS), a self-reporting framework by which colleges and universities are able to measure their sustainability performance. Stevens received a STARS Silver rating in 2015 and is applying again in 2020.

Dr. Sarkar’s appointment on the Advisory Council will run through December 2021.
