2025 Fee Award Recipient - Moushmi Culver ’00
Moushmi Culver ’00
Harold R. Fee 1920 Alumni Achievement Award
When Moushmi Culver ’00 decided to attend Stevens, she created something of a family tradition. “My uncle earned his Ph.D. at Stevens and recommended that I consider adding it to my college list,” she recalls. “When I visited the campus, I knew right away Stevens was the right fit for me, and I am thrilled to see how Stevens has elevated its presence nationally over the last 25 years since I graduated.”
Culver launched her post-graduation career as a manufacturing engineer with Merck’s Manufacturing Leadership Development Program, rising through increasingly challenging roles with the global pharmaceutical company. In the past year, she was promoted to Senior Vice President of Manufacturing Strategy, Business Development, & Alliances, where she leads a global team across a breadth of areas, including supply, business development, network strategy, third-party supply sales, alliance management, strategy, portfolio management, and shared services for manufacturing. In addition, she is the executive sponsor of the Manufacturing Leadership Development Program, and the Merck Asia Pacific Association (APA) Employee Business Resource Group. She is a Manufacturing Senior Leadership Team member, reporting to the President of Manufacturing. “It is exciting to be in a role that combines strategy and operations,” she says, “and to be leading in a large global organization whose mission is to save and improve lives around the world.”
“Stevens provided me with a strong educational and technical foundation in engineering and real-world co-op experiences, including an international internship in Germany,” Culver continues. “Most importantly, Stevens exposed me to team collaboration and leadership experiences that have contributed to my success.”
However, Culver’s fond Stevens memories go well beyond academics and career opportunities. “I met my husband at Stevens,” she says. “We have been married for more than 20 years and have two teenage sons. Fun fact: we were once included on the cover of an issue of the Indicator that featured Stevens couples!”
Culver generously gives back to Stevens, serving as a member of the Charles V. Schaefer, Jr. School of Engineering and Science Board of Advisors since 2021. She has been featured in multiple articles published in the Stute and Stevens.edu. She participated as a panelist and speaker for Stevens’ Annual Northeast Bioengineering Conference and the Stevens Women in Engineering 50-year celebration of Women at Stevens.
“This is the Stevens tradition,” Culver adds. “The alumni of Stevens give back in so many ways that help the school gain more visibility through donations, volunteering time, mentoring students for career opportunities, and more. Also, the alumni of Stevens do a great job keeping in touch with each other and connecting. I still get together with multiple friends and classmates a few times a year and run into Stevens alumni wherever I go. In fact, I met someone at Heathrow Airport in London a few years ago as we were waiting in line. She was explaining that she attended a small engineering school in NJ, and when she said Stevens, I couldn’t believe it!”
Culver is humbled to be recognized by Stevens. “I credit my professional success to the strong foundation I built from my time at Stevens as well as the personal growth I had in my years there,” she says. “That is why I am happy to provide career advice to students and to help in any way I can. I encourage students to leverage the opportunities they have at Stevens. Since it is a smaller university, you can try new things and take on leadership roles, which will help you be a well-rounded student and set you up for success in your future career.”
