Fundamentals of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) - Know your Rights and Responsibilities

This workshop focuses on the basics of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws and regulations that govern workplace fairness, processes for addressing workplace discrimination, and strategies to promote diversity and inclusion. It will provide an overview of the laws enforced by the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (US EEOC) including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, The Age Discrimination in Employment Act, The Americans with Disabilities Act , Genetic Information Non-Discrimination Act, and the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act.

This session will be facilitated by Alvin Mallette of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Alvin is the Outreach & Education Coordinator at the New York District Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency dedicated to eradicating employment discrimination in the workplace. He has been with the agency for over 14 years and held several roles including Investigator, Enforcement Supervisor, and Intake Supervisor. Mr. Mallette has also served with the NJ Air National Guard for over 25 years. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Montclair State University and a Master’s Degree from Columbia University.
