Quiet Space

The Quiet Space, located on the lower level of the Wellness Center, is open 24 hours, 7 days a week to Stevens students, faculty and staff for meditation, prayer, and quiet reflection. The creation of this space was spearheaded by students affiliated with the Student Government Association, specifically many leaders of the religious organizations.  All are welcome.  

Please respect others who may be sharing the space and observe the following guidelines: 
  • Scan the QR code every time you access the space

  • This room is not intended for napping, playing games, doing homework, or eating meals

  • Please keep sound to a minimum in consideration of other users

  • Food and beverages are not permitted, with the exception of water

  • All meditation cushions and mats should be neatly stacked after use

  • Please leave the room clean and tidy for the next user

  • The lighting of candles, incense or other combustible materials is not permitted in this room

  • Do not leave personal belongings unattended


Meditation 101: How to Start

  1. Find a comfortable seated position. Set a timer for 5 to 10 minutes.

  2. Take a deep breath and relax. Be mindful of your breath going in an out. Try to keep your mind focused on your breath.

  3. If your mind wanders to other thoughts, gently refocus on your breath.
