General Information

Patrick Hill has worked as a professional software developer since 1998. He holds an Associate in Applied Science in Computer Programming and Systems from LaGuardia Community College, a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Computer Information Systems and a minor in Psychology from Baruch College, and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology. He is very proud that he graduated with a 4.0 GPA from his studies at Stevens.

He has worked at various companies over the years as a software developer, from tech start-ups to large law firms and corporations.

He began teaching Web Programming I and Web Programming II at Stevens right after graduating with his master’s in Fall 2018. Once he started teaching, he found it was his true calling and is very passionate about the profession. Patrick says, “While I had job satisfaction when I worked in the industry, I didn’t feel like I was truly making a difference in the world. Sure, I made people’s jobs and work flows easier, but at the end of the day, I didn’t feel like I was making a difference. When I started teaching, it gave me that feeling that I was making a difference. I often say that teaching fed my soul and the ever-lasting impact I have on my students was the greatest feeling in the world. I truly feel I am now making a difference in the world, and it’s one of the most rewarding jobs I have ever had.” He connects with his students with ease and is always pushing his students to be the best they can be. His goal is not to just teach his students web programming, but also to make his students stronger programmers overall and prepare them for working in the industry.

Patrick has worked in the software industry for over 20 years. He has worked for various large corporations and for many start-ups throughout the years.
