Research and Scholarship - Year 1 Report

New leadership, a reorganized administrative structure and new initiatives have augmented research and innovation and entrepreneurship efforts at Stevens. Initial activities in Year 1 show promise for significant impact in the future.

Goal R1

Deploy policies that further empower and enable our faculty to innovate and conduct high quality research, produce high impact research publications, and develop and experiment with promising new teaching and learning approaches.

OWNERS: PROVOST GEORGE KORFIATIS, FACULTY SENATE, AND VICE PRESIDENT RANDY GREENE

A new organizational structure was created to strengthen Stevens’ research impact, headed by Vice Provost for Research Mo Dehghani. The preliminary FY15 budget includes an allocation of research support to academic units and principal investigators based on their success in securing research funding in prior years. Specific criteria and guidelines for administering this allocation are being developed.

Year 2: Develop and staff new organizational structure focused on research, with emphasis on scaled growth of research enterprise and achievement of strategic goals. Continue to develop infrastructure and systems to support research.

Goal R2

Stevens will design and construct an Innovation & Design Laboratory.
