What's Next? Completing your Academic Program
Congratulations on your program completion!
As you approach your program end date and officially become a Stevens Institute of Technology Graduate, it is time to think about what you would like the next step in your F-1 Journey.
F-1 Students are allotted a 60-day grace period after the end date listed on their I-20 to choose what their next steps will be in their F-1 Student Journey. Explore our webpages and information below to determine what step is best for you.
It is important to keep ISSS informed on your plans post-graduation. you should also ensure that your Workday Program End Date matches the end date listed on your I-20 and the date on which you intend to complete your studies.
*this option is available for students who have completed two full semesters (one fall and one spring) on campus at Stevens, or who transferred-in to Stevens and have completed at least one full semester on campus.
Students may apply for OPT Work Authorization and begin working full-time after their program end date. For more details on OPT and how to apply, visit our OPT page . You can apply for OPT up to 90 days prior to or up until 60 days after your program end date indicated on your I-20 and/or SEVIS record.
Students may apply for and attend a new U.S. Institution for the next available semester. If you wish to do this, you will need to transfer your SEVIS Records to the new school.

If you have applied for and have been accepted to begin a new academic program at Stevens next semester, please review the information to submit a Change of Degree Level Application.
If your intention is to leave the U.S. upon completion of your program, you will need to do so no later than 60 days from your end date indicated on your I-20 and/or SEVIS Record.
