Title IX Training Materials and Resources
Stevens Institute of Technology is committed to fostering a campus community free from discrimination and harassment. As part of this commitment, the Title IX Coordinator and the Office of Community Standards offer both in-person and virtual training programs to faculty, staff, and students. These trainings are designed to educate and engage our community members around topics including sexual health, sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, sexual violence, Clery reporting and Campus Safety Authorities, and various related topics.
As required by Title IX, Stevens provides access to training materials either via the links set forth below or upon request directed to the Title IX Coordinator, Dr. Stacy Fisher via email at [email protected] or by calling 201.216.3383.
Title IX Personnel Training
Each year our Title IX Coordinator and Deputy Title IX Coordinators participate in Title IX training offered by the SUNY Student Conduct Institute. The required trainings include training on the definition of sexual harassment in the Final Rule, the scope of the school’s education program or activity, how to conduct an investigation and grievance process including hearings, appeals, and informal resolution processes, as applicable, and how to serve impartially, including by avoiding prejudgment of the facts at issue, conflicts of interest, and bias. All materials utilized for these training courses through SUNY Student Conduct Institute are available for review here.
Here you can find a list of trainings attended by Title IX staff. For questions regarding these trainings, please contact the Title IX Coordinator, Dr. Stacy Fisher, at [email protected].
Faculty and Staff Trainings
All faculty and staff members are required to complete the web-based training module, Preventing Sexual Misconduct (Title IX). This module for employees of colleges and universities focuses on preventing sexual misconduct, as required by Title IX. The course objectives include identifying what constitutes sexual misconduct, including sexual discrimination, harassment and violence, explaining key laws and policies prohibiting sexual misconduct and violence, and taking appropriate actions to comply with and carry out their responsibilities under these laws and relevant university policies.
Additionally, during their onboarding orientation, faculty and staff receive a review of the material shared in the online module. Additionally, this orientation provides information about their responsibility to report, to whom they should report sexual misconduct, and review scenarios they may encounter within our campus community.
A PDF storyboard of these training materials is available upon request by contacting the Title IX Coordinator, Dr. Stacy Fisher at [email protected].
New Student Trainings
Each year, new students participate in in-person training, as well as all completing online training modules expected of all students on Title IX and sexual misconduct. The online training modules are offered through Vector Solutions provide information on discrimination, harassment, and Title IX. A PDF storyboard of these training courses is available upon request by contacting the Title IX Coordinator, Dr. Stacy Fisher at [email protected].
Additionally, all new undergraduate students attend an in-person training during their orientation focused on Title IX, consent, and being an active bystander. All new graduate students complete a training facilitated by the Title IX Coordinator.
Campus-Wide Educational Initiatives
The Title IX Coordinator, in partnership with the Offices of Community Standards, Student Support, and Student Culture and Belonging, offers awareness and prevention programs that seek to educate our community on and promote positive and healthy behaviors, foster healthy, mutually respectful relationships, encourage safe bystander intervention, and seek to ensure our community members know their rights and responsibility as Stevens Ducks and awareness of the resources available for incidents involving sexual harassment/misconduct, as well as discrimination, harassment, or bias incidents.
