Breakfast After Dark
Breakfast After Dark is a late-night campus event that brings the comfort and nostalgia of breakfast foods to students when they need it most. Hosted during the leadup to finals each semester, Breakfast After Dark offers classic breakfast favorites, such as pancakes, eggs, bacon, cereal, and pastries, served in the evening by your very own Stevens faculty and staff.
More than just a meal, Breakfast After Dark creates a welcoming, low-pressure space for students to relax, connect with peers, and take a break from academic demands. Often supported by campus partners and staff, the event promotes community, wellness, and a sense of care by meeting students where they are, and providing food, encouragement, and a reminder that support exists even after the sun goes down.
Black Atlantic
The Black Atlantic, created by Chris J. Laguerre, is an African Diaspora project that examines and celebrates communities formed through the histories of slavery and colonialism, particularly throughout the Americas, while emphasizing their enduring connections to Africa. The project highlights the rich fusion of multiple African cultures with Indigenous, European, and other traditions.

What is a Resident Assistant (RA)?
Reporting to a Resident Director (RD), the Resident Assistant (RA) is a live-in position that is responsible for the oversight and supervision of students living in Stevens housing. The position supports the development of individual residents by creating positive and inclusive communities, developing social skills, imparting community responsibility, and impacting personal identity development. RAs nurture the growth of each individual in their area and the community as a whole. RAs will direct their primary attention to the leadership, programming, and management of their floor/area. The RA also plans and carries out administration, advising, programming, counseling referral, safety, and facility reporting needs of the individual areas.

The RA Experience
The Resident Assistant role offers an array of benefits from a comped meal plan to professional development skills and self-discovery. The connections made when being a community leader are unparalleled as conflict resolution, fostering belonging, promoting community togetherness, and mentorship opportunities are limitless. As a member of the Office of Residence Life, RAs can expect supportive staff from paraprofessional to professional guidance and assistance along with set administrative tasks, on-call/duty responsibilities, and leadership development moments that are rewarding and enriching! RAs are the front-line on-call support staff to our residence halls and are trained on duty and crisis response management to effectively and efficiently respond to resident issues. All staff meetings, team bonding, mentor/mentee programs, event planning and management, resident connections, and community unity are just some of the many facets of the Resident Assistant role.
