ABSTRACT

In many emerging economies, the transition from secondary school to higher education is a "bottleneck" where talent is lost due to a lack of resources, connectivity, and specialized guidance. This presentation explores how the Uayki Foundation, led by founder Karim Rifai Burneo, is dismantling these barriers through its innovative pre-university platform. Rifai Burneo discusses the development of a hybrid learning ecosystem designed specifically for "last-mile" communities. At the heart of this initiative is the Uayki Kit, a proprietary technological solution that allows students to access high-quality, curated pre-university content—including mock exams, video tutorials, and interactive exercises—without the requirement of a continuous internet connection. The session will detail: 1) The Content Gap: How Uayki curates university-standard curricula to ensure rural students are competitive with their urban peers. 2) Technological Sovereignty: The engineering behind the "offline-online" synchronization that ensures no student is left behind by the digital divide. 3) Measurable Transformation: Case studies of students who, through the Uayki platform, have successfully matriculated into top-tier universities, shifting their life trajectories. By moving beyond simple information delivery, Rifai Burneo demonstrates how the right technological connection acts as a catalyst, transforming a student’s potential into tangible academic and professional success.

Karim Rifai Burneo.Forbes Perú

Karim Rifai Burneo, founder of the Uayki Foundation and Uayki Technologies Inc., is an economist and for-purpose tech entrepreneur at the forefront of digital education and connectivity. Acknowledged by the Congress of Peru and a speaker at international forums promoted by the World Bank and the United Nations, Karim has led Uayki to develop an internationally patented technology that allows access to several useful platforms and millions of digital resources without requiring Internet access. Specialized in emerging economies at Harvard and holding a master’s in telecommunications engineering from the oldest university in America, Universidad Mayor de San Marcos, he has significantly impacted disadvantaged communities across Latin America by connecting thousands of users with the best development opportunities of the digital age. Through successful projects in alliance with the UN and USAID, and partnerships with major multinational corporations, he achieved a 300% revenue growth in 2022. His leadership in Uayki has been crucial in connecting remote low-income communities to the digital age, enhancing their quality of life and access to education and information.
